Saccharification Add 35.4 l of water at 70.2 C 66.1 C 60 min
Sparge: If steeping, remove grains, and prepare to boil wort
Notes:
------
It could use more hops of the same kind. Not dank like my previous few IPAs that used some Collumbus.
I wanted the yeast to shine, so mission accomplished.
I pitched about 330 billion cells. I pitched at 20C and let rise to 22C over a couple of days and held it there. 2-3 weeks in the fermenter. Cold crash, keg to about 2.1 volumes CO2.
It certainly doesn't taste like 120+ IPU. FWH and smooth. I hope you all enjoy it!
Edit: Note the bottling volume above, 17L. I was short due to hop loss so it might make sense to scale the recipe up a few litres if you have room in your fermenter.

Lots of grapefruit citrus. I really love Citra and Amarillo together and this yeast sets them off.

Re: Advent #20 Hyborian DIPA (Conan)
Well today's the day for this one. I cracked one last weekend, purly for quality control... The keg I filled these from had lower pressure than my others which was part on purpose and part accident, I thought I had reconnected it. However my fill method is pretty decent so the carb held. You'll notice my bottles are filled very high so there won't be much of a sound when you open it.
There will be a lot of hop sludge settled to the bottom of the bottle, looking bottle conditioned but it's not. I hope all the bottles are decent and enjoyable.

What's the story about "Hyborian" Rob?
Is it because of the Conan?

Exactly. I'm not the best at naming suff, was poking around, found the term and went with it. Maybe not as cool sounding as Thulsa Doom.

Rob I really enjoyed this beer. The yeast worked really well with the citrusy hops.

That's some delicious stuff right there. Wish I had another (but at 8.6% it's probably better that I don't).

Re: Advent #20 Hyborian DIPA (Conan)
Great beer Rob, nice and dry and you are right, I wouldn't have guessed 120 IBU's. FWH really smooths that out.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Just what I was hoping for, an amped up version of the IPA I had from you quite a few months back. Nice and dry, great hop flavour, great aroma. You can tell it's a big beer but the bitterness is smooth and alcohol hidden well.
