Thats the problem with small batches that you drink the most of, you run out really quickly.
Congrats to you too, that's an awesome standing.

Re: Brewer of the Year
Thanks everyone, i was quite surprised by even making it to 11th and am very happy to have gotten the feedback this year while competing.
Next year i'm hoping for some medals again but i want to brew odd styles, work on some of the off category IPAs (session, rye, black, red), and then some strong brews like a barely wine, trippel, wee heavy etc..
And yes Martha is expecting, we are quite excited about that as well. It will make it even more pressing that i can get placed in SJ for my residency!

Re: Brewer of the Year
Thanks Rob, Sigh of relief, no more competitions this year.
Was a great experience. All awesome people; Jeremy who does all the BOTY, all the brewers who were really helpful friendly to each other, the judges and stewards and comp organizers, again really friendly and helpful, club and forum members who support and train up their brewers
. Breweries and sponsors. Was an awesome experience and an awesome thing to be part of. A big organization of volunteers, working together, with the objective of advancing craft beer brewing in Canada.
Cheers to everyone who plays a part in this. It's one of he best things I've come across in my life. Real humanity shining through with brilliance.

Yes, that's awesome guys. Very hard work and good to hear you sharing your experience with the forum. I enjoy reading when both of you offer your recipe tweak suggestions for those asking for help. Great stuff.

Thanks. I was talking about the other way round though. I learnt a lot of stuff on here. Probably couldn't have done that without the help and support I received from this community.John G wrote:Yes, that's awesome guys. Re: Brewer of the Year
Hint of changes next year.
Well, it was a heck of a season, folks. As I’m sure many competitors, organizers, and judges will attest, there were many hard-fought battles out there…and what better way to battle than with mash paddles and beers?
When the dust settled, the Club of the Year went to the Cowtown Yeast WRanglers, who managed to pull ahead of the River City of Manitoba Brewers, accumulating a whopping 310 points throughout the season.
The 2015 Brewer of the Year was Jared…uh…what’s his name again? Oh, right. Carlberg! He managed to pull well ahead of the pack with an astounding 207 points, followed by Mark Pennell with 124 and Chris Nowlan with 108.
This was our craziest season yet, with 289 individual homebrewers from 33 different homebrew clubs accumulating points in at least one of the qualifying competitions.
We’re looking at instituting a couple of changes for next season, including somewhat reducing the number of qualifying competitions, in order to reduce a bit of the pressure on brewers and ensure both regional fairness and quality of qualifying competitions. I will also be tracking individual brewers’ medal totals, so brewers will also be able to see how they stack up with first, second, and third place scores throughout the season. Additionally, I’m going to open a third category of tracking – Best of Show – which will separately track Best of Show winners throughout the season. This will be an opportunity for brewers who do not enter a high range of beers – but brew a few extremely solid and consistently-winning entries – to snag some extra glory.
All in all, I’m very pleased with this season, and I’m looking forward to next season. Competition organizers, keep an eye out for our 2016 BOTY application process, which will be released soon. Entrants, keep your eye out on the sight in the New Year, as we’ll be posting our qualifying competitions and (at least approximate) deadlines for them ASAP.
Thanks to all the parties that participated this season: competition organizers, volunteers, BJCP judges, and homebrew entrants!

Re: Brewer of the Year
When do we anticipate having the site up so we can sign up? Also I assume this comp requires 2 bottles?
