Which brewing god are you?
The ancient Greeks taught us that the universe comprises four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. The Germans refined this model by telling us that the elements are really barley, air, hops, and water (we later figured out that air was actually yeast).
If you were to be god over one of these elements based on your brewing expertise, which would it be? I'd choose yeast and I suggest that LD is water. Remember, every cosmic brewing team needs all four gods, so being god of a lesser element means you'll be more powerful in the long run.

Why water?
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I recall you tasting people's brews at Hoptoberfest and declaring whether they used city water or well water. That qualifies you as a water god in my opinion.LiverDance wrote:Why water?
It doesn't have to be your area of greatest expertise, but the one that lets you tower over the most other people. My expectation is that there will be fewest water gods.

Good reasoning. You now need to become an expert on malts and adjuncts.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:I arbitrarily chose barley cause I like me some malty beers

Interesting thread. I wouldn’t say it was based on expertise, but I’d be a hop person I think. Malt bores me and I don’t like malty beers, water frustrates me. I’m having a bit of a fling with yeast at the moment, but it’s a casual affair I think.
It’s like some people are leg men and some are breast men (talking about roast chicken of course).

I'm a "leg man" and I like hops. I wonder if there is a correlation.Jimmy wrote:Of courseGuingesRock wrote:It’s like some people are leg men and some are breast men (talking about roast chicken of course).

Please post your preference. Legs or breasts? Hops or malt?

I'm partial to "Willing". Hops but with a malt back to hold it up.

What about water and yeast? I'm guessing water goes with trichotillomania.

Aaack! We have to *choose*?!
We clearly need an indiscriminately lecherous beer-loving option.

Responses so far (Sandy, Kirsten, Tony L) seem to indicate a more general interest in beer coupled with “indiscriminate lechery”= beer ogles
