Stainless fermenter

Post by Anathema » Fri Feb 21, 2014 5:28 pm

Just saw Noble grape added stainless fermenting vessels to their line up. 199 plus tax flat bottom no dip tube in spigot. Yeah...not my cup of tea, since the SS Tech Brewing Brew Bucket comes with stainless legs, rotating stainless racking arm built in and a true conical bottom and all for 225 dollars, so 25 buck more and a wee bit on shipping costs. I know that if I dropped 200 dollars or more on a stainless ferm I would want something superior in many ways. Although Brew buckets are sold out they will have more soon, just a heads up on products. (and screw the shipping from the US its worth if for the conical bottom alone) Look em up fellas. Now back to making maple syrup.....

Obk is supposed to be the Canadian distributors for ss brewing, so you should be able to avoid us shipping

Totally awesome. Brewers looking for superior products will seek them out. A flat bottom ferm with plastic spigot aint for me. And the ability to yeast crop from the conical makes life wonderful I think. Thanks for the heads up Allan.

I personally don't see the point of the SS tech "conical" brew bucket at all. I love stainless, I love conicals, but that product totally doesn't do it for me. It's not a true conical and there's no dump valve at the bottom. If you want a brew bucket that will last forever, sure, but it isn't a conical. It seems like they're banking on hombrewers desires to have a conical. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

I have my own SS fermentor and it's all sanitised by the boil (it's the boil kettle)l; otherwise I'd be very concerned about adequate sanitisation of the fernentor and taps: http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... 562#p86560" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No doubt it does have its problems for certain but a flat bottomed vessel with a plastic spigot an inch form the bottom is foolish, RIS will drop enough crap to plug that thing solid. Look I get that they are the big boy in town but 200 bucks for a BUN coffee pot on steroids is foolish. Only thing I would do to the brew bucket is to add a SS dump valve on the bottom, after that its heads and tails above the NG one. Do people even search this shit out or do they just gobble up crap fed to them by the only big boy in town.....Hell at that price just buy a 15 gallon Brew pot from Dave at everwood and call it a fermenter as mentioned above, and save yourself 50 bucks. Ah fuck NG and their click parade social media bullshit Im going all Everwood from now on. Daves good shit and knows his stuff, NG seems to be allowing a passive aggressive teenage mean girl with her head up her ass run their facebook. Throw some I dont know how to crash trub and rack beer bullshit at me.......rage.......wheres X when you need him, hes a bigger dick than me any day. My anger is making me look bad......I need a beer. Oh and Guinges....gimme that fucking kettle...lol.

Jesus I have ears guys err uhh i mean eyes!

its not for me either but, unofficial speaking i don't think our target is brew nerds such as ourselves who may want/need a conical for yeast harvesting and such. so for some saving the extra 50$ (after shipping and nonsense) might be worth it. as for the Facebook issue i respond to your comment by saying...huh?

"If you find it difficult transferring it off the yeast or trub without stirring it up then I suppose the extra features you describe might be useful.
If you drop by one of the stores however, we could probably help you with out with that" That shit .....And if I knew it were you Id have given you more hell, that crap came across too passive aggressive for my evening tolerance (havent had a beer in two weeks Im in withdrawal). S'why I gave up after the fact being serious about my shit. And as a note its 25 bucks or so to ship from there. I got all my kegging gear which weigh fuck tons more for like 25 bucks in 3 days. Either way getting a ss kettle and modding it is still cheaper then that "fementer". Its not against you man. I read into it too far I imagine and somehow was convinced it was some social media bobble head posting for the company (as many companies have nowadays). Since its you Ill just troll your harder. Yeah but fuck that fermenter.....

Cripes man, you might not care for the fermenter, and that's fine.......but you're really taking things over the top IMO. Go have a beer or three.

no hard feelings man. It wasn't me, I just hadn't seen the conversation until now. Respectfully, I think you read a little far into it. like i said these items are not for the hobby brewer like us. we have had requests for ss fermenters like this for people who want to lazy brew not advance brew. so that seemingly small savings means more to them than us. Id rather have the unit you recommend myself. but with people watching i think he tried to respond a seemingly combative (no offense) commenter with a "customer service" attitude.

No probs man now I know it aint you duly noted, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Reeked of PA .....albeit maybe thats how Service industry speak is I suppose. Wouldnt know never had to do it. Not hostile toward him, just really fucking confused why people would buy into a product like that at all. So I offered up an alternative product with arguably better features and price got what I felt was a snippety response about come in and we will help you fix your trub problem (after this long I think got er covered me thnks, not some nubcake off the street). Yeah I get that he has the business savvy and experience but thats not enough for me to gobble up whatever product he offers, especially when there are considerable savings for better products out there and just like any product picking out its flaws in detail helps people make informed decisions and no one company should own my or anyone elses loyalty (thats how we get fleeced), they need to work to be the best for loyalty, we all have finite money and paying more for less isnt loyalty its stupidity. Price, fittings and what will arguably be trub and crap locking up a poor quality valve. I support whom ever offers me the best price and product and like many have grown to loath large companies something fierce (through learned experience NSP UARB Water commission NSLC....more where that came from) especially in NS where we have a small market which tends toward monopolization in almost every industry. Also had a chuckle at this "a seemingly combative (no offense) " Ironic eh. That shit got under my skin (not the hostile bit the PA bit), meh, mooks will buy some craptacular stuff I can talk reason till Im blue but aint gonna change it. Sucker every minute and all

Just working my magic so as not to shove a wedge between us, we are all on the same team here. on a related but unrelated note, within regards to"make informed decisions and no one company should own my or anyone elses loyalty (thats how we get fleeced)" and "we have a small market which tends toward monopolization in almost every industry." I'm on the same page, far to often people line up like blind chickens and jump into a pot of boiling water advertised as a warm hot tub.

A souped up kettle/fermentor with integral cooling coil for wort chilling and fermentation temp control, built in whirlpool and boil coil heating element (coming later). You have to have a licence to fly it though.

When I lived in the UK, BBC Radio 1 (pop music) had a character that used to come on. He was called "Mr. Angry" and he'd come on and rant about everything under the sun for two minutes. I used to love that, and I couldn't wait for him to come on. Always made me smile.

Jerimah, Would you start a ranting thread where people can just post when they want to have a rant? I think it would be great (seriously) and would be like old times for me.

Ranting Brewers

Post by Anathema » Sat Feb 22, 2014 10:50 am

So this thread should simply serves as a vent by which to allow of steam (an airlock of sorts). As per Guinges suggestion I decided its easier to start this and let come what may. Basically shit as per usual gets under my skin and I get pissed and go off on a rant. I always feel better afterwards getting it off my chest. Oddly enough my friends seem to love it, give me a few beer, wind me up like a coiled spring and then poke me at a distance with a really big stick. Makes for some fun times Ive heard.
Ground rules.....yeah the hell with ground rules. Look we all put our foot in our mouths every now and then, we get mad and storm away and hopefully after some grilling from like minded people (other brewerrs etc) come back with a more informed decision on the matter, or at the very least a more informed rant. We all see major and glaring problems within the brewing industry and associated issues, why not let it out instead of just ho hum accepting it.
Now for the warnings. The hell with your feelings, I dont care for them and no one should. You feelings aren't facts, nor do they refute anyone position on a matter, that passive aggressive politically correct bullshit wont help. You got a beef, let fly, be aware you will get grilled (no grilled beef pun intended). Take stock of your position and add that to your list of shit you now know. Much like academia should be a free exchange of ideas (it isnt really but it should be) this should be a free exchange of rants un hindered by politically correct limp wristed hand wringing and censorship.
For anyone interested I am a adamant fan of Bill Burr and his Monday morning podcast. Its not beer related save for that the fool drinks like a fish at times but its pretty much the summation of what a solid rant should be. Oh and if you have to move this to another spot mods, Mr X etc, Im all good with that.

First rant. Fuck that stupid NG "fermenter" that is all.....

Man you need to relax - had a read of the FB posts. Looks like NG was only trying to lend a hand before you went off, since they would have no idea of your level of brewing experience. Is the stainless fermenter for everyone? No. Are there better products? Sure. But that can be said for all types of things, from BBQ's to cars.

I tried to think of something, but I’m happy with the brewing world, it brings a smile to my face.

Oh, thought of something. I got a selection of beers that came from the liquor store for my birthday and I haven’t been able to drink any of them. I tried a few of them and the rest are still in the cupboard.
