And as I mentioned earlier, it's a great time of year to pick up fresh produce for a Niçoise salad.

I'd do more like 60 - 90 seconds per side at 550 f. Depends on how thick it is though, plus dome temperature reads can be completely inaccurate if you're grilling close to the coals at all
Check this dude doing a 90 second sear on a decent steak...

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
Opinions on Vision Kamado vs Big Green Egg (Large)?
I've been saving my pennies intending to buy a large BGE in the spring, however I just read through this entire thread and it sounds like everyone is loving this grill; assuming that Costco brings it back this spring/summer, it looks like it'll be less than half the price of a BGE. (Does it seem that Costco carries it every year? I can't recall ever seeing it, but it sounds like it sells out pretty quickly so maybe I missed it.. or just never noticed it because I wasn't in the market at the time...)
Any preferences/differences/pros/cons between the two? If there's no major disadvantages to the Vision, I can put the extra $600 or so towards some kegging and homebrew equipment
Michael.

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
I've only ever used the Vision, but I'm more than happy with it. Costco has carried them for the past two years, so one can assume they may get them back again in march/april/may this year. I could never justify the money for the egg, given the money already spent on brew gear!

I own an egg and have cooked on both and they are virtually the same to cook on, I'm not sure about extras and toys and such.

Extra accessories are pretty easy to come by. The Kamado Joe Classic heat deflector fits pretty well on the Vision and is only ~$55 online. I also grabbed a cheap ash tool on eBay and a nice, hefty 16" pizza stone for under $50. Couldn't be happier with my grill.dexter wrote:I own an egg and have cooked on both and they are virtually the same to cook on, I'm not sure about extras and toys and such.

I picked up a pizza stone at Stokes for $12.99 - gave it a really good workout all summer and it's still kicking.

That's the one I got in the spring and it's done well for me too.LeafMan66_67 wrote:I picked up a pizza stone at Stokes for $12.99 - gave it a really good workout all summer and it's still kicking.
I use 4 firebricks from Kent as heat deflectors on the bottom grate. (not with the pizza stone)

There's one left in Truro and there's one in dartmouth crossing and they are price matching. The one in dc is a floor model and assembled jugs disregard the name on it or say your name is phil

Says none in NG, but wonder how accurate the inventory is. Might not include floor models. There was one up there for the longest time....

There are a couple Ch'town. I am thinking of pulling the trigger on this. Is this the same model that all of you guys have? What is the diameter of the grill? Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Vision Kamado Owners Thread - Available @ Costco
It's slightly different than the costco model. I believe that this one is smaller, also the front design is different, sorta gadgety compared to the simpler costco model. Should be pics in this thread of the Costco model.
I still think it's a great price, and if there's one in NG when i get home, I'll be buying it.
