WTB: Heatsink and fan for Vectra VL420 DT
I'm trying to help out a client of mine: their 15+ year-old HP Vectra VL420's CPU fan has died, and they are hoping to get back up and running asap. I've already suggested getting a new PC, which is in the works, but for the time being, they'd love to just fix the fan. The part number of the heatsink and fan is Agilent HACC-0021, but they'd be happy with just a replacement fan. I haven't seen the unit, so am unsure of the dimensions, but here is a link to a picture. http://www.impactcomputers.com/hacc-0021.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Struck out at Greenlyph/Downtown Digital and PCMedic. Any places in Hfx/Dart that would be a good candidate for older parts like this? I don't know the chipset either, or else I'd suggest a different HS that might be in stock in town.
Thanks for any leads, guys!

I'll check and see what work may have at other sites. Use to be a common model years ago. Know they were replaced. But someone may have one hiding.

Thanks Keith, but don't trouble yourself too much. The client was going to go a a pop by Brilliance today, and I haven't heard back. I'm hoping that no news is good news.
If you find one, I'll take it off your hands, certainly.

I pulled an inventory and sent a few emails. No luck yet. Will keep you posted.

Out of curiosity, why are they running that machine anyway? Is it dedicated software of some kind?

Thanks Keith, I'd say don't worry any more. I haven't heard from them since the panic Friday, so I'm going to say they found something.
Jason: the machine is a dedicated instrument controller, running one software, not on the network. All they cared about is that software working properly, not being able to play videos or anything else. This has opened their eyes (along with a failed HDD in a twin machine earlier this year) that hardware fails and it's time to look at newer versions before they lose critical data.

That's what I figured the explanation as. The hardware running the electron microscope at StFX still records everything on floppies for exactly the same reason: one machine/decided software.
