borrow 2 growlers?

Post by Tim Gregory » Tue Jul 30, 2013 6:46 pm

Anyone have a couple growlers I could borrow for Friday evening? I'm supplying beer for an event and realized I'm somehow down to one. They will be returned full. :cheers2:

I've lots of empty ones around. I'm heading to NB sometime Friday so you would have to grab them before then.

So I think I'm good for growlers, but not sure about caps. Anyone have any leads?

They're the same as the 1 gallon carboy caps. I think I have one of those and a Propeller/Garrison cap kicking around my place. NG Cole Harbour might have some too.

If you mean those black plastic caps for the clear jugs, they aren't the best for commercial growlers, even though they thread onto the bottle.

Black plastic with a cone underneath? I've never noticed a problem although I've only used them a few times.

Yeah, I've had some issues getting them to seal, so i stopped using them. Couple other guys had similar problems. Hit and miss thing.

I wonder if one of the local micros would part with a handful.

Rogues uses the black plastic with plastic cone inside to seal their growlers.

I'm surprised at that. My personal opinion is that they aren't as reliable as the metal caps.

Agreed. I used that style cap on a growler for Hoptoberfest and leaked half the growler into my cooler.

Speaking of Hoptoberfest...any discussion on one this year?

Both Rogue's and Granite who pre-fill with counterflow beer fillers use this style of cap. If you grab the ones for gallon jugs of the same design they may be a bit different.

I've only grabbed Rogue fills twice but both times they were under carbed. Anyone else encounter that issue?
