Not so big on the flaked barley, but the rest looks good.

Mmmm, flaked barley. 400g for a 40l batch isn't overkill but depends on what you're looking for. Could be interesting in a black IPA actually.

Rubber. This is the same recipe we made last march with a few mods.

I remember our bipa was super creamy.
I may just omit the fb all together.

In that case I'd change some stuff up a bit just for the sake of experiencing something different.

the hops + schedule is entirely different. so that will definitely shake it up more. i might tighten up the grain bill and replace/omit a few things.

Thinking of brewing up an ESB on Friday. The only English hops I have on hand are Bramling Cross though - I'll have to root through the freezer to see what would make a nice late addition.

I'm re-brewing the barrel RIS, sans barrel. MASH FROM HELL. Problems all over the place, bent up my false bottom again, clogged my pump with grains, and difficulty with mash temps. This brew is black as night and I'm spilling it everywhere lol. I have the wort out now and bringing the temp up to kill any enzymatic action before I take a break and spend some time with my daughter. It looks like I got about 70% mash eff though which isn't too too bad with this huge grain bill (just shy of 10 Kg for a 22L batch).

How did you end up with grain in the pump?

Couple days late, but I brewed a clone of Rising Tide's Daymark, an APA made with rye.

Got Zainasheff's mild going from BCS "Through a mild darkly" on a boil right now. Hit my pre-boil OG square on, but I messed up my strike temp and ended up a bit high, so I stirred it until it came down to 68C. I hope this one ferments out quick, my kegs are almost empty.

Same here and hoppiness is an IPA also

I'm slowly working my way through BCS probably made 12 or so recipes and they've all turned out very nicely I think. It's just a shame that NG doesn't carry a lot of the ingredients.

I've done 9 recipes from the book, and like you, been very pleased with all of them. I got the West Coast Blaster brewed up. I didn't have any Horizon on hand so I substituted it for Magnum.

I think the use of Horizon is a bit dated. Magnum is the perfect substitute.

Brewing up comfortably numb for my second beer of the week. Hoping to get three more done up this week if I can find the space to ferment them all.

I'm just finishing up a new recipe. Smokey Irish B@st3rd Smoked Irish Red. Looks tasty :rockin:
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe
