Very carefully, you don't want to kink it at that point. A tubing bender does a great job, I wish I had one when I made mine.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:one thing i've never been too clear on - how do you bend the bottom piece up thru the middle?
I just formed the bend by hand and ended up with a slight kink that really don't hurt it.
You make yours yet?

Know any plumbers? They would have the Bender to do it and would only take a minute.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:very soon, tomorrow hopefully!Tony L wrote:Very carefully, you don't want to kink it at that point. Or cut it and solder a 90 degree joint in and use rigid tubing for the vertical pieces. It makes for a nice clean looking build.

Word. That's how I'd be doing it if I was making one.RubberToe wrote:Or cut it and solder a 90 degree joint in and use rigid tubing for the vertical pieces. It makes for a nice clean looking build.

The experienced guys there said to fill it with sand and then bend it. We didn't do that though, we just went slowly. The other guy had some experience with it.

Yeah, try filling a 3/8 tube with sand and getting it out after. It wouldn't be easy I think.
I just went slow and carefully bent mine by hand. I did have a slight kink, but it don't take away from performance

Now, that's thinking.CorneliusAlphonse wrote: haha that's why i thought salt, it'll dissolve if nothing else
Yes salt or sugar should work, and it's not like you need a whole lot of it to do the job.

Very true.
A little while after I made my chiller, I bought a new flaring tool set that came with spring benders. Would have been so easy....
