I've been toying with the idea of a chipolte chocolate porter for a while. I guess it would be like a chocolaty smoked porter infused with jalapenos. Just an idea though, I've never tried it. I bottled a rauchbier a few weeks ago that had some chocolate malt in it, maybe I'll open a few and slip in some peppers and see what happens.

That sounds pretty awesome! What sort of a heat level are you shooting for? Low enough that you can drink a few pints?

My friend Blake and I were talking of this last night.

We came up with AK47, Kieths orignal recipie. I know it's not my recipie but I like the idea.

Trying to come up with Formidable Brewing Test or something like that.

Well, I already brewed that at the H&T under a different name but that's no reason not to do a re-make :cheers2:

Hey man, sorry for the delay. Been run off my feet lately.

We could do something like this later in the year when it's time for another black beer. Meanwhile why not whip up a batch or two to see what you come with, we can discuss formulation if you want help on an initial test batch. :cheers2:

Coming up on the to-do list is....

- BBBoogie's sour mash Saison with juniper berries, aged on cedar

- Jayme's IPA with spruce tips

There hasn't been a lot of response here since I posted my rant about my vision of a collaboration brew. I realize you all are hobbyists and a lot of you might have a tendency to not stray off the beaten path but I think if we get together one on one for brainstorming sessions we can come up with recipes that will be unique and fun. Combine our ideas, styles and preferences or just make really good versions of unique classic styles to come up with fun beer that I can still sell in reasonable time for $6/glass. Or I can just add more hops to cover up all the mediocre flavours to help them sell faster  :cheers2:

How about a Strawberry rhubarb beer? I made one last summer, and it was really tasty. The trick appears to be lots of rhubarb.

The other local spruce beer has hit the shelves. I should probably pick up a bottle for the BJCP studying... Example of turpentine in a beer!

Is there any future plans for a new beer?
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
