Anybody getting CO2 fill soon?

Post by mr x » Mon Dec 10, 2012 6:09 pm

My 5lber is empty, and with my new work schedule, it's going to be impossible getting to Don Brenton's...

I won't be up until Friday night, and it hardly matters on my end, as it'll be out of commission for a week regardless. It's whether or not you are out and about next week and have time.

I've got a few tanks I need to take in at some point. Not sure how soon I can get some time off work to take them in though. I'm more than willing to take it in for you though if you aren't in a big rush.

Does DB's do on the spot fills? I may be in the city next week and am in desperate need of CO2.

They used to, but they seem to have new staff out back and it's more of a come back later.

If you and Jayme can't get what you want I will make a trip out Monday with it and pick it up later in the week.

Does Simplex do "while you wait" fills or are they more of a drop and fill? Any idea if they do hydro testing?

There's the place I was trying to think of. I must call them.

I wouldn't even mind doing an NG swap in an emergency, as that's where I bought my tank, but I need aluminum, and they seem to be scarce in 5lb size.

I pass Simplex twice a day - could always drop off and pick up later.

I think Simplex is actually cheaper than Brentons - and if memory serves, NG is actually only slightly higher than Brentons for a 5lb.

I'm curious - why do you need aluminum?

Simplex does while you wait depending on what they have going on, how busy it is, etc. I got a fill last week first thing in the morning on my way to work. I've had to leave my tank with them a few times, when I needed a hydro test, and when they had guys on vacation. In that case it's usually same day and they'll call you when it's ready.

The customer entrance is on the side of the building. Also they don't take debit so bring cash.

Simplex Grinnell is definitely the place to go if you're in Dartmouth. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes today. Sounds like they enjoy having home brewers come in as well. The guy I was talking to (he was either the manager or owner) said that their next big project (after finishing renos) in the new year was CO2 supply for bars and brewers. Much nicer (and cheaper) to deal with than the place I was going to in Moncton. $19.55 for a 10lb. fill opposed to $40+ in Moncton.
