No more access to group buy section for lurkers
I think this is a good idea. You need at least 5 posts for access. I don't care what they are, but post something. How does that sound Mr. Administrator?

It's fine with me, you're the one doing the approval anyway

I'd go as far as to limit to people we've met in person. If they can come to a pickup they can come out and drink with us. Someone we know and is verified could nominate new people.

Re: No more access to group buy section for lurkers
Can you un-access the people with less than 5 posts, and make a note about requiring 5 posts in the new request access rules? Thanks. I don't think I need to meet everyone in person for me to do the malt buy. Some people live out of town, etc. A name and number are good enough for me.Jimmy wrote:It's fine with me, you're the one doing the approval anyway![]()

OK, anyone with less than 5 posts has been cleaned out of the group buys section. They will have to reapply after five posts. There were too many lurkers in there that had no involvement.

Jeez, you were busy! lol
Do you know if any of the members that were cleared, are participating in any of the current group buys?

Rumtopf is in on the McMaster group buy.... and (as of this post) only has three posts.
Can one of you send him a PM to let him know what's going on?

I'm trying to turn Brewnosers into a pyramid scheme. For every new member you vouch for for the group buys, you get 5% of their grain (and 5% of the 5% they get from their underlings, etc.)

Re: No more access to group buy section for lurkers
From, Michael Wolter,"Rumtopf" All this is a bit confusing.I was intoduced to your group by a neighbour, Ken Wilson and was happy to find a group of beer drinkers and brewers to be part of. I don't do face book or any other social media, type with one finger and was happy to find a place to get new seals for kegs,eg knowledge and to perhaps participate in a bulk malt order as we on average brew 60l/week.Ken intoduced all grain brewing to us one year ago, thus I don't have much to share yet, I am a consumer of ideas as of yet. Your lead where to get CO2 tanks filled was more than timely, thanks. Cheers, Michael

Re: No more access to group buy section for lurkers
No need to be confused. I just want to gegt rid of pure lurkers in the GB section. You got your five posts in, so that's good. Go through the procedure to get into the gb section again, fill in your contact info, and you're fine. Hopefully jimmy can add you this time, as I'm on a tiny machine for a few days...

Once the request is filled out, I will give him access.

Re: No more access to group buy section for lurkers
Is there a way to highlight the fact that you need 5 posts to have access to the group buy forum? Something impossible to miss.

Lol, I knew it was going to be an issue...There's been 2 submissions that don't have the 5 post minimum.mr x wrote:Is there a way to highlight the fact that you need 5 posts to have access to the group buy forum? Something impossible to miss.
I'm not sure the best way to go about it though..maybe make them enter their post count on the form?

I'll see if I can add a check box with something like "I have 5 or more posts on the brewnosers forums"

Check er out now Roberto. I added a question "I confirm that I have the minimum number of posts (5+) required to access the Group Buy Forum" with a "yes" radio button.

Re: No more access to group buy section for lurkers
Hey guys just trying to reach my 5 post milestone so I can lose my lurker status. I would love to get out for a drink with the group or come to a meeting but I have a wife and three kids and I work outside north America 160-180 days/ year so for the most part all I can do is lurk and see some of the cool things people are building and brewing.
