Some folks may have seen this already, but looks like we're getting a brew store again!

Cautiously optimistic, but having a walk-in for hops & yeast definitely sounds like they've taken some of issues that the NG locations have had seriously. Also sounds like it will be a....unique space?

I saw this on Instagram yesterday, I'm cautiously optimistic as well. I hope they come to their senses and carry some Escarpment Yeast!

Fermenting: Brett Saison 2022, Schwarzbier, APA, Sour Brown,
Coming up: American Wheat (Fruited), Vienna Lager, Dortmunder

My local NG (north end) has very limited beer supplies. The manager there is great and always as helpful as possible but they just don't have the supplies needed. Hoping that improves but I think it's just a smaller location than where it used to be on Oxford. Should be interesting to check out the new place, just wish I could get the basics at my local store

Yeah the Lady Hammond one is pretty disappointing, not really anything there unless you break a hydrometer or something. Mostly just a winemaking location.

MW&B had much better selection of beer supplies. 2 staff (one was me for a while) was beer centric.
Wine on prem is the money maker but as I have said many times, ask for the products you want, make your face/mask known. If there is money to be made they will sell
Tim (M&B owner) was reluctant to bring yeasts, hops and grain in but (as he said) they at least broke even.
I had hopes with Everwood, Hammerhead etc that we could get products more avaliable but I also say homebrewers are "frugal" and internet buying is making local available brewing stuff not the money maker "we" think it is.

Definitely one reason for my "cautious optimism" just because I do think it's a hard business to run, or at least to justify as a project for a biz like NG that seems to have the winemaking and wholesale thing well oiled enough to be where there are. There have been a lot of brew shops closing over the past few years so it's more of a risk than the wine side of things for sure.

I just hope this doesn't affect the Bayers Lake NG location. Their grain and hop room has become extremely well-organized and well-run, especially in the last year or so and is much closer to me than Burnside. Although I'm happy to see a full-range place open up, having the BL NG close by and well-stocked has saved my hide on a couple of brewdays.

I was just in the Bayers Lake location today for a few things.
First time in a while being there and I must say they had a better selection and better setup, with more.
Talking to the guy (Rob was on his name tag) and he said he's trying hard to make sure they keep what they have and possibly add a bit even with the new Brew HQ opening. His comment was it is such a good central location.

Rob is top notch , he was in Sackville for a while and always helped me out. FYI Sackville has a grain room now. Not tons but can help in a pinch. Coliene is always helpful and will order stuff in upon request

Any bulk buys around? I realize it doesn't help a lot financially for the homebrew stores though.

Has anyone heard any updates? I haven't brewed since everwood closed and was looking to get back into things with a decent selection and local supplier. Thanks

There was a Facebook post the other day. Building inspectors had just a couple of small items left for them and they are hoping within a couple of weeks to be open I think,

Heads up that Steve Haynes, owner / operator of Brew HQ, will be joining me live on my Brewers Banter show tonight. Will be on Instagram at 8pm. You can watch by following @mybrewhq or @craft_beer_with_me, and then clicking on the live stream via the top of your page. Feel free to ask questions during the live, which I will put to Steve.
It will also be able to be viewed via my Instagram page after the live broadcast. And in about 2-3 weeks, you can listen to it via any major podcast service... my shows can be located by searching "Brewers Banter".
Cheers!
