Hello,
I've been craving a Black Pearl cream ale and am hoping to brew a clone but have absolutely nothing to go by. Does anyone have any ideas or maybe even a lead on someone that worked for Maritime Beer Company who may remember the recipe? I know it's a stretch but think it could be a fun project. I contacted Sleeman's but they had no info.
Thanks,
Peter

I remember liking that beer a long time ago. I'd be interested in making it too.

Re: Black Pearl Cream Ale Recipe?
I might stop by Hell Bay this weekend and can try to ask about the Dark Cream Ale.
In the meantime, I'm planning to brew this Kentucky Common (same thing) from HBT.

Re: Black Pearl Cream Ale Recipe?
I did not get the specifics, but start with a basic cream ale recipe (e.g. 2-row and flaked corn) and then add dark malts such as chocolate, black patent, roasted barley, etc. to get something you like.
I think I'm going to do something like this, shooting for an OG of around 1.045:
2-Row (67.5%)
Flaked Corn (25%)
Crystal 60 (4.5%)
Chocolate (3%)
Cluster hops @60 for 20 to 25 IBU
Nottingham yeast
