Looking for cow tongue
Hey All,
Looking for a cow tongue or two for this Saturday. I have checked Chaters, eastern meats and both Gataway locations with no luck (both are sold out). Meadowbrook seems a little too far to go... Am I missing anyone here?

Re: Looking for cow tongue
Some of the Superstores and Sobeys have it somewhat regularly. I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Bayers Lake Superstore, Lacewood Sobeys and Larry Uteck Sobeys. Can hurt to call and ask anyway (if you're willing to buy tongue from a big chain, anyway).
You could also try Pete's.

Pete's butcher tells me 24 - 48 hours and he can get "Anything".

Superstore in Bedford has it on a very regular basis, I normally see it every Saturday packaged and ready to go.Taylor Vanbrewer wrote:Hey All,

If Berwick is too far what about Windsor. martock glen has great prices on meat and they sell everything you could possibly want. I've gotten boar/duck/briskest/chicken/shoulders/ribs etc from them. Always top notch.

I'm curious to know what drew you to cow tongue. I had to cook/eat some in school, and remember it being the weirdest thing I'd ever tried. Such a bizarre texture.

Cow tongue makes some very tasty taco meat.

Maybe that's why I hated it in school. We had to boil it and peel the outer layer off. Then just slice off a piece and go to town. I found it terrible, but I'd be willing to try other methods of prep.

What dish are you gonna use it for? Reminds me of the Spanish dish called Lengua Estofado.
