Super Newb in Dartmouth
Hey Everyone,
I'm fairly new to brewing I joined a little while back by a friend's recommendation when I wanted to read up on how to build a kegerator. Thanks to some info from here it went off without a hitch (Thanks!) and so we had local beer on tap for my weddin (Hell Bay Brown and North Brewing's Gus). I didn't think I'd get into brewing myself but I got an invite to give a buddy of mine a hand with a brew in his AG set up and I was hooked. Since then I've only brewed festa kits, 2 hacked wheat kits I've tried to put a Hoegaarden flare to and a West coast IPA I "mashed" some extra hops into and dry hopped. But given the messes I've made and that the marriage is still in great standings I've got to test the limits and make the switch to AG NLT Christmas... Thinking about a grainfather not sure if that's blasphemy.
Cheers all!

Welcome. Don't be afraid to ask your questions on here. Lots of experienced folks on here. I have a grainfather and I like it a lot.
And there is no blasphemy in homebrewing that's the point of homebrewing. Avoid the folks that tell you there is.

Haha thanks Mike! I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions, especially when I get the new set up!

Re: Super Newb in Dartmouth

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Welcome aboard!
If you want to see a Grainfather in action, two of our members will be brewing with one @ Maritime Wine and Beer, and Celiacbrew himself will be using his at Garrison Brewing, for Open Brewery Day/National Homebrew Day, May 7th.

Thanks for the info. I've actually got a wedding to go to in valley on the 7th, but when is the maritime wine and beer event happening?

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas, it's much appreciated! Too bad about the events though Chalmers, I'll have to bring a few homebrew with me to the wedding though in support of National Homebrew day!

Haha fair enough, and thanks. I think once I whittle down what's already in the kegerator I'll be going the same route as well. What do you use to sparge?
