I've been meaning to post this last week but haven't had much of a chance. I'm hosting the 2nd annual HRB homebrew comp and it's open to everyone in the Maritimes. The style is a Strong Scotch Ale (Wee Heavy). Hoping to see a good Brewnoser showing!
More details here.

haha. I hear ya. Apparently the gloves tend to come off during the local comps.
I have no idea what I'll ferment this in. I'm thinking a growler should be suffice.

Too late notice to participate this time around, personally. Too bad, I wanted a redo after my winter spice fiasco.

I have a one gallon bucket with airlock and bung I could loan you if you want more headroom than a jug Keith. Everwood has them now, I think their total capacity is 6 litres or so.

Wrong comp, sorry.
Having said that, I'll be driving through Fredericton Dec 14, so could drop stuff at a friendly spot there at that time. That's probably too early for most, tho.
My schedule may have me closer to SJ in January.

That's an advanced technique Keith, not for the faint hearted. First, it is necessary to lift the lid off the pot, then you have to throw in yeast, and the final part of the process is to replace the lid. Good luck with it. I'll be on standby in case there are any questions.

Had some equipment malfunctions and didn't want to put off my brew any longer so I mashed in a fermenter

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
