Re: Andy's RIPA (March 2015 exchange)
This was a great beer Andy, I really enjoyed it
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I quite enjoyed it too. Hoppy, but plenty of malt and rye spiciness on the finish.

Had mine earlier today. Lost some to the sink as it foamed over but it was tasty. Liked how the rye worked in a iipa .

I had this last night and really enjoyed it. I am a fan DIPAs so this was right up my alley. Well balanced with a nice hop profile.
Thanks!

Nice beer. Solid complex background malt profile, some notes of caramel, biscuit and rye. Lots of great hop flavour too definitely complex and not one-dimensional. The bitterness perfectly balances the malt profile. There is a bit of metallic (grassy) hop flavour in the aftertaste that dry hopped beers often suffer from, but it is very mild and I only notice it if I'm looking for it. It also has a nice warming alcohol character to it. Thanks for the tasty brew!

Fantastic IPA! Piney aroma and bold bitter flavour. The rye follows the hop punch with a peppery warmth. Nice copper colour with a big lasting white head. Crisp finish.
Thank you very much!

Great DIPA Andy. Superb balance with just the right amount of bitter with a nice full body to nicely mask the 9% ABV. I didn't get as much nose as I would have expected especially from the amarillo and simcoe late hops, (maybe I was still saturated from Brian's from the day before. LOL) but that did allow for the rye to be pleasantly apparent. Carb was definitely big. I enjoyed the first sip, the last left me wanting more. Cheers Andy!
