And you tasted one of mine and know why it didn't pass the mark.

Won't make that mistake on the one I brewed with Pete this past weekend.

Thank you for getting it all there on time and in good shape. You deserve an honourable mention just for that.chalmers wrote:Congrats guys, so glad to hear about the medals, and the rest of us jokers who entered but didn't place will have fun reading the notes. "Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I emailed buddy from TBF about score sheets. He said mine was still in the pile to send out, but at least he sent me the comments via email - no scores tho'
Oddly enough, I don't use peated malt in my 80/- but carmelize the hell out of it. I boil about a gallon of the first runnings down to about a quart.Townshend Pale: Good appearance, with a golden body and lingering off-white head. Lemony citrus nose has a bit of pepperiness to it. Grainy flavour is well balanced by citrus hops. Body is moderate and sessionable. Nicely made and a strong finisher in a large and well-fought category.
Off-Kilter: Great dark appearance with a long lasting head. Classic malty aroma - some treacle and peat. Sweet malty flavour, but with the hops providing a delicate balance. Body is good, but the carbonation is a little light, and there are some signs of oxidation. Otherwise an excellent ale - well done!

Are you sure that he didn't mean 'sweat malty flavour'?Off-Kilter: Great dark appearance with a long lasting head. Classic malty aroma - some treacle and peat. Fuck, you might want to forward those to the CBAs to let them see how the pros do itakr71 wrote:I emailed buddy from TBF about score sheets. He said mine was still in the pile to send out, but at least he sent me the comments via email - no scores tho'
