Re: One hell of a storm
I can't take credit for the pic - I stole it from the newspaper. My wife said she had to drive through the odd snowdrift on the way home from her night shift this morning. The rest of the road alternated between completely bare and a foot deep, depending on the wind cover. I'll try to remember to take pics tomorrow.
gonna give my Garrison Brewoff entry a test tonight.

CBC mentioned this morning that there were hurricane force winds in the province.

My neighbour works at the scale near the NB border and he was saying their weather station recorded gusts of over 130km/h yesterday.mr x wrote:CBC mentioned this morning that there were hurricane force winds in the province.

Re: One hell of a storm
Not a good day.
The fucking snow blower gave up the ghost, the car won't start and I'm afraid to have a leak.
I went to the bathroom anyway only to have the flapper on the toilet break.
I'm getting drunk. Shag it.

Snowblower got a great workout here. First time in a number of years where the drifts and plow gifts were higher than the blower hopper. Beautiful day today so we cooked up a mess of sausage to have over the next couple of weeks. .

I cant see the map you were referring too (I think it's now the current conditions). I wish I could of helped you out. I love this stuff and teaching it is one of the best parts of the job. Mid latitude cyclones are awesome things.Jimmy wrote:I've been looking at the radar/satellite imagery but don't see where it's supposed to be coming from? I normally don't look at the map data, so I could be totally missing something..

Re: One hell of a storm
I thought we were done with this stuff
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
4:45 AM ADT Friday 12 April 2013
Winter storm watch for
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West issued
Mixed precipitation in the form of rain, freezing rain, snow and ice pellets is expected tonight and into Saturday.
This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.
A low pressure system is forecast to develop southwest of Cape Cod this evening and track south of Nova Scotia on Saturday. Rain changing to snow and ice pellets are forecast to begin over southwestern regions of the province early this evening and will push northward tonight to affect the rest of Nova Scotia by Saturday morning. A few hours of freezing rain is expected to be mixed with the ice pellets after midnight for southwestern sections. Snowfall amounts of 10-15 centimetres are expected tonight and Saturday over Northern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton associated with this system. A winter storm watch has been issued for Central Nova Scotia where snowfall amounts could possibly reach snowfall warning criteria therefore the public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required.

Re: One hell of a storm
I had been planning to put my summers on the Forester this week because I'm tired of starting at the fucking ugly black steelies I have on it for winter, but I'm glad I held off. Driving with my summer tires in snow and slush is like a dog trying to run on hardwood.
