Post by mackay85 » Tue Dec 09, 2014 7:30 pm

New Item over at Walmart....anyone have thoughts on how decent this would be? Considering building a keezer, but was surprised at this price:

Right on, I wonder if they'd ship that to a local store.

Not a bad price. I'm guessing the tower, tap and shank are likely chrome, but you could always upgrade those down the road.

I got the danby 4.4 cuft at Princess Auto for $99 and got a SS 2-tap tower from OBK for $99. A bit of work to convert to kegerator, but the price was right! Mine wouldn't fit a commercial 50L keg, but fits 2 x 20L kegs with CO2 and distributor snugly. So far works great!

We got the Danby 4.4 conversion down to a science. 20 minutes, measure here, there, drill, drill, drill, cut door here, reassemble, etc.

Also, my boss ordered one of the Walmart units. I'll take pics and post when it gets here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that thing should hold more than 2 kegs, yes?

it looks like the one I have, but I have two taps
I can fit two coke kegs in mine
the co2 tank that came with mine was 5lb, no regulator, and there's a pre-drilled hole for the co2 line to go out to the tank outside the fridge. There's a bracket that attaches the tank to the fridge
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Where do you get the Danby 4.4 all fridge please? Can you fit 2 ball lock kegs and a 5lb CO2 tank in there?

Does anyone know if 2 ball locks and a 5lb tank would fit in this unit: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/hai ... ced820en02" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any other suitable fridges out there?

Mark,

You can get the 4.4 danby at costco for 179 I do believe, and some of the guys have found them at Princess from time to time. It will take two ball locks and a 5lb co2tank

Thanks very much Sandy, I might take you up on that. My secretary has a number, and I think (not sure) delivery is free, might not be to these parts though.

This is the one right? looks nice. It's an all fridge? http://www.costco.ca/Danby%C2%AE-124.6- ... 47872.html

For the 4.4, cutting the door this way us the way to go unless you have the older model where the door inside unscrews.

They tend to be cheaper in store. They increase the online price to help with shipping. I think i paid $159 on sale in store.
A 5lb tank sits on the shelf in the back, and 2 ball locks snug in just fine.

Yeah that correct, I was in there like 2 days ago and they are 179 regular, so the extra $20 is for the shipping

I don't think, but I didn't try. I think 3 with the CO2 outside.

The outside dimensions suggest might fit 4, but I don't know the inside dimensions. The floor space inside would need to be 18" x 18". There's probably only one hole for a CO2 line through the back? also I guess only one tap on the tower, so some rebuilding would be needed for a 3 - 4 keg setup.
