Alternate Meeting/Party March 1st in Timberlea

Post by TimG » Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:56 am

I have a big ass turkey left over from Christmas in the freezer, thinking of smoking it and figured why not have a Brewnoser event/meeting/party to help eat it!

Throwing some dates around, and looks like March 1st or 2nd. 1st is a Friday, which I'm fine with.. say 6 PM start time. But might do it up on Saturday instead if there is significantly more interest for that day.

No theme, bring some beers, maybe we'll do a bit of tasting or we'll just have a free-for-all like Hoptoberfest. Folks can bring some 'smoked turkey' related sides if they like. Otherwise, fingers foods/snacks will be around.

:rockin:   :mebeer: :smoker:

Haha, you don't want my door 'prizes' (aka the shit I'm trying to sell/give away for those that don't get the inside joke).

Graham, you can make the Friday?

I'm curious how many folks are thinking Friday will work vs Saturday. I'd prefer to have it Friday but only if that works for most.

Yeah, Friday is better for me. I'll be in town Thursday for the BJCP group, so staying an extra night is entirely doable unless **** hits the fan at work.

So sounds like some decent interest for Friday, so Friday (March 1st) it is! 6 PM start time sounds about right, but folks can feel free to drop in earlier if they want (I'll be putting the finishing touches on the turkey).

Don't plan on having a formal 'eating time'.. food will be around at all times I'm sure. Thinking of having the fixings for smoked turkey sandwiches laid out, so folks can make a sandwich at their leisure. Welcome any and all sides dishes, no real theme here other than Brewnoser worthy food (always the way!).

Those thinking of cabbing it, don't be afraid.. I'm not 'that' far out. Only 5 minutes from Bayers Lake. A car load is essentially $25, so not much split 4 ways. So make some plans! PM for address if you don't have it.

Also, taking the bus out to my place is relatively easy on a weekday night like this. #21 (last bus leaving downtown 6ish) and #23 (last bus leaving downtown 6:15ish, and last bus leaving Mumford 6:45ish).

Will be bumping this mid week to get a feel for numbers. So far looks like;

Jimmy
Liam
Jamie
Sandy
Graham
Chalmers
Jayme/Gavin?
Bluenose as a maybe

I'm sure numbers will fluctuate during the week, and I don't need any commitments by any means.. "go with the flow" as they say. Just attempting to get a general idea of the sam'ich situation.

Great!

Yes Rob, award winning beers are welcome! :rockin:

No worries about when you'll show up, I intend on carving up the turkey say around 6 and it'll be an 'eat when / what you want' sort of deal. I'll set up a taco/sandwich making station and folks can always heat up a bit of turkey whenever they'd like.

Looking to be a decent crowd, which is great!
