What kind of time frame might this be happening? I wouldn't mind trying to make it down for this.

I'd love to be able to make this, and to finally be able to contribute some beer

Re: Hoptoberfest 2013
That leaves just enough time to squeak out some Oktoberfest-style lagers, I think.mr x wrote:I'll see what I can do on my end. Sept 28th?
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Hot dogs.
We could do a couple of roasts and shave for sandwiches.

The lamb burgers were epic. I could eat them again - of course I was only involved in the eating, not the preparation.mr x wrote:Was just thinking of this today. Burgers again? Or a bold new direction, lol.
Smoked pork butt for pulled pork?

Has it ever been a pot luck thing? The pot luck could have a theme.
Curry goes well with beer....order in from a curry house?

The burgers have been epic burgers. I'm up for them or pulled pork, or shaved roast or pretty much anything!

I recommend food... and lots of it! I plan on attending and will bring a few contraptions (HPimproved) along to entertain with also. Lets make it an HOPtoberfest to remember!
Or at least have a foggy memory of attending!

I didn't think of that before now, but "big pots" are pretty common around hereJimmy wrote: A big pot of ......
could have another "big pot" of something else for anyone who doesn't like curry (if there is anyone who doesn't)
Lobsters? chilli? beef and IPA stew?

Smoked Chili could be good.
We sometimes smoke our spaghetti sauce on the grill, and it's delicious. You could possibly do the same with chili?

Chilli is easy to make, a lot of people like it and the ingredients are cheap.Becky wrote:Smoked Chili could be good.

I've heard that turkey fries are really tasty, but never tried it. Might need an Ottiscan rig to raise and lower the turkey into the oil. Could be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
Big pot of corn on the cob? What other fruits and veg would be in season.

Yes, I've used smoked meat in chili before and it is excellent.Becky wrote:Smoked Chili could be good.

As good as that sounds, I think there are brewnosers with shellfish allergies. I don't know how severe, but probably still best to avoid.GuingesRock wrote:Lobsters? chilli? beef and IPA stew?mussels cooked in beer.

Re: Hoptoberfest 2013
Go to a local sausage-maker with a bag o hops, have them make spicy beer and hop snausages. Make a bucket o beer kraut. Make a tub o beer and hop mustard. Go to a local bakery with a jug o beer and spent grain, have them make beer and spent grain snausage buns. Grill 'em on WOOD. Everyone can eat one or two and take some home if there's any leftover. That, or start selling them on eBay and we'll get rich. Easy to have done, fast and easy to cook, delicious to eat. Mmmm, sweet delicious beer, hops and pork. It is Hoptoberfest, after-all
Or smoke a suckling. Or not
Beer. Hops. Pork.
That's right.
