Don't use a drill bit that big. Use a hole saw, step bit, or punch.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

PA has 7/8" step bits. mine goes to 3/4" ans I ended up finishing with a dremel.
