Maybe, if you want to, turn the bottle upside down a couple of times before pouring this one. My initial pour was a crystal weizen until I tipped some of the dregs in each glass.

I found just the glass to fit this large bottle. Really enjoyed this Chris. This is what I wish my Weizen would have tasted like last year. Mine was an epic fail. So many questions. Did you under pitch to bring out some of the flavours in the yeast? and did you do a step mash to get the body? Great job and thanks for sharing.

This went well with turkey dinner 2 tonight. Was busy chatting with my family and being entertained by my nephew to get too critical but it paired well with what I had on my plate.

That's unfortunate that you are unable to share the recipes in the database. The spirit of the Brewnosers is sharing and encouragement: whether it be by educating new brewers, or sharing advanced tips with veteran folks. You know, of course, that a recipe is only a part of the equation of the final beer: technique, equipment, brewer, etc, etc.

We have commercial brewers sharing their recipes (and other "secrets"), whether here on the forums (Nash), or in widely-read books (Stone, DFH), and they still manage to constantly innovate and make a living doing so. The only secret beer recipes that I can think of (Stone's Arrogant Bastard, Alchemist's Heady Topper), are secret as part of a game with homebrewers, only spurring them on in the hopes of cloning the beer.

Sorry for the rant, something just struck me as not in the spirit of the Brewnosers, where the knowledge available to the group improves all of our beers, and in turn, improving life for everyone on Earth (eventually).

Logged in from the Canary Islands to say hi! And see how the beer went over. When we popped a test bottle two weeks ago, I really didn't enjoy it, so I'm glad to hear it has come around.

Recipe is 50/50 pils/wheat, with Wyeast from Weheinstephan Weizen.
Brewed on LD's system, and we did a ferrulic acid rest at 120(?) to make sure there were enough banana and clove present. Minute amount of bittering from Saaz (?). Sorry, this is from memory, hopefully LD can help out here.

Glad yall are enjoying it, and now, back to the beach/volcano hopping!

I'm just getting around to this one. It poured clear but I made sure to include some lees. I'm getting some medicinal notes, and a candy type banana character. Maybe I got an off bottle.

I'm getting a faint medicinal flavor, possibly from the mash?. But no candy banana flavor. Over all I'm enjoying this beer, but wasn't near as good as the one you brought in the summer.

The medicinal thing was what I was tasting earlier in the month, so perhaps it is still off. Darn. I'm hoping LD will chime in here with some tasting notes...

Great Weizen, Chris. I'm not fond of this style at all but I think this is really good. No medicinal flavour here. I'm getting some citrus and phenols which I like. Dry finish.

I too am not a huge fan of this style. I was getting a slight medicinal flavour, and not so much banana. It reminded me a little bit of King Heffy from Howe Sound, with a less banana.

Drinking this now only almost month too late, decent banana, especially in the aroma. Some medicine in the aftertaste. Good beer regardless.
