just received an email about the awards ceremony:

Submissions: Reminder final submission date it Friday, October 12th.

What we’ve all been brewing for. Awards and accolades!

Date: Saturday October 13th
Time: 7pm-10pm
Awards: Awards will begin around 7:30
Beer: First pint is included.
Bottle Swap: Are you like me? Are you curious about what and how others brewers brewed? Do you want to see how you stack up against the competition?
Drop off 6 extra bottles with your competition submission and at the awards you’ll walk into a random 6-pack of beers from other brewers!
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, plus some mystery prizes!

Congrats to everyone and huge thanks to Spindrift for putting on the competition! I failed to label my bottles for the swap so if you received any bottles that resembles the ones that Bellwood's in TO put out..that was mine. I hope you like them. Looking forward to trying the other I received!

Congrats all! It was a fun comp and great as always mingling and chatting. Big props to Boogie on the gold and Mark for second place with a sour IPA of all styles. Great job to all who entered. These kind of competitions keep the homebrew spirit alive and vibrant.

Ian Wheatley's NEIPA took 3rd. We got 4th with our mixed-styles hopfenweizen.

Congratulations Boogie, Mark, Ian, and Jeramy and Catherine!

I was one of the judges, and there were lots of greats beers in front of us yesterday. I was a bit rusty, so if I wrote anything dumb, feel free to msg or email me and I'll try to explain. The beer quality continues to improve in the region, which just makes our job more difficult as judges!

Boogie's entry was a Saison, light in body, great aroma and spritzy carbonation. I didn't know it was the winner when I saw you at Stilly, Brian, or else I probably would have spilled the beans (probably for the best I didn't).
Mark and Ian's entries were at my table for the first round of judging and they were excellent as well. And trying the know1 beer in the Best of Show was great and had us judges scratching our heads. But in a good way!

I was lucky enough to get both of these in my take home pack, both were superb. Jeremy, the Hopfenweizen was quite unique, the banana really came out for me along with the hops of course.

Congrats to all the winners, it was my first so a stepping stone. Got some good advice on making my upcoming beer this weekend for the Big Spruce competition.
