In case anyone here is considering one of Patrick's pots, here's a pic of mine with the hardware installed from him. You seriously can't go wrong for the price.

I almost pulled the trigger on one of these today...even though I've got 3 converted kegs, of which I only use 1

19 gal / 72 litres is nice. I'd like to be able to do 15 gal batches BIAB so I am thinking about getting a 100L pot next year maybe. I'd need a basket fo that much weight. This sounds really good though. We'll see!
Two of those could make a wicked brutus 20.

It is going to be a very short window on that pre-order. Likely just the 4-5 days it takes from Rail from Price Rupert to us. Most of them at that price have already been spoken for from industry folks wanting to make a 3 vessel pilot.
And to be honest not sure if this will qualify for flat rate shipping a 20" cubed box costs a fair amount to ship.
Sorry about the downside news. All said and done however from what I have been researching on this size kettle with ports I can land them anywhere in Canada for a better price then I have seen anywhere.

How do you have a pickup setup on that? Is there room for a diptube? How much wort does it leave behind?canuck wrote:In case anyone here is considering one of Patrick's pots, here's a pic of mine with the hardware installed from him. You seriously can't go wrong for the price.

On the 15 gal there's plenty of room for a pickup tube. I've got a pancake style hop blocker in mine and it only leaves behind maybe a quart of liquid with my pump.Jimmy wrote:How do you have a pickup setup on that? Is there room for a diptube? For those doing 10g batches with these pots, how tight do you find it?

Mashtun, hope you like small to medium grain bills just like a sanke keg . BK couple of drops of fermcap and no worrying about boilovers. BIAB forget it. (Just my opinion)

Yeah, I plan on using it strictly as a boil kettle or 5g BIAB.OntarioBeerkegs wrote:Mashtun, hope you like small to medium grain bills just like a sanke keg . BK couple of drops of fermcap and no worrying about boilovers. BIAB forget it. (Just my opinion)

Re: 15 Gallon Stainless Pots 2 couplers 119
Speaking of 5g batches - would the top port on the 15g pots be submersed for a 5g batch when being used as a boil kettle?

Caught me off guard, I honestly have to measure and do the math before I can answer that. With your bag in yes, out I will get back to you.

Just to clarify as a BK why you worried about the top port? Are you planning to immersion chill?

That, and I'm also going to use it to heat strike water.OntarioBeerkegs wrote:Just to clarify as a BK why you worried about the top port? Are you planning to immersion chill?
My intentions are to do a quasi BIAB using a cooler with a bag in it for the mash. I'll heat the strike water in the pot, transfer to cooler, pull bag from cooler and submerse in sparge water in pot, drain cooler to pot and boil.
In the summer I'll probably go back to full BIAB though, when I don't have to deal with temperature swings during the mash.
So it's a combination of monitoring strike water temperature and chilling temperature.

Re: 15 Gallon Stainless Pots 2 couplers 119
Ok, I think I am on the same page. I am going on a wing and assume you know a 9 or 10 pot is ideal, but it limits any future changes to large bills or bigger batches. Therefore you are looking at a larger pot and dealing with the downsides like evaporation rate and port heights. I think it is a good move on your part, couple extra bucks now beats many extra bucks later to upgrade.
