Connecting Brew Kettle to Counterflow Chiller?

Post by jtmwhyte » Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:57 pm

I am planning on using my CFC for the first time and am wondering how those of you who use them attach the kettle to the chiller. I'm picking up some high temp silicone tubing from Sandy at the grain pickup, but I was curious about other ways people do this. I have a stainless hose barb on my kettle and 3/8 copper on the chiller.

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -

Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

I just push the tubing onto the barbs.

I have 1/2"barbs on both the kettle and CFC. 1/2" silicone tubing between them

I use a 1/2" barb on the Pot and just push the Tygon tubing over the 3/8" copper CFC inlet, I don't use silicone tubing.

I use dollar store cable ties to attach all of my silicon tubing, it works like a charm and I don't have to worry about one popping off while pumping. Granted, I don't have to take my equipment apart after brewing.

I guess I should have added that I gravity feed through the chiller as well
