You don't need rice hulls in that recipe. Did the guy mean flaked rice?erslar00 wrote:Corn Fed Blue Eyed Blonde... copied it off Youtube... IChris Knight...made some very minor mods

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
No brewing for me either..
Just bottled a Spruce ale and finished cleaning up around the brewery. I might bottle a kit wine I'm doing for a buddy tomorrow morning if I feel energetic.
BTW, the spruce ale had just the right amount added to it. I ued 4 ounces with 10 minutes left to go. The hydro sample I drank today had the spruce flavour there but wasn't overwhelming, I'd say so far it looks good. I'll know later when I drink a cooled carb'd sample I have in the fridge.

Had a friend come over to help brew an oatmeal stout. He was intrigued by the simplicity of the BIAB method. I think I got him hooked on all grain brewing.

Care to share the recipe? Wouldn't mind trying an Oatmeal Stout after tomorrow's BIAB Propeller ESB clone attempt.maltster wrote:Had a friend come over to help brew an oatmeal stout. He was intrigued by the simplicity of the BIAB method. I think I got him hooked on all grain brewing.

After tasting some of Nash's Raging Smack at H&T a few weeks back I've been inspired to try to create a similar brew. Loving Citra as a flavour hop.

Monday will be a two-batch day. I'm supplying a couple kegs for dean2k's wedding reception. An 'appeal-to-the-masses' blond ale and the Northern English Brown from BCS.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Haha I'm inclined to agree with you but I can't resist - we have a vial of super high gravity yeast from White Labs still kicking around and need to use it up!hogie wrote:I think you're insane. Following the Jamil / Can You Brew It process?
Roughly the CYBI process but tweaked - pretty much following this guys post. http://bertusbrewery.blogspot.ca/2012/0 ... clone.html
Making the first yeast starter today for the WY1098 to brew on Sunday and I'm going to calculate everything out. I'm really not too concerned if we hit the numbers on this one though so it's going to based on the DF120 more, not necessarily a clone. So long as i can get it above 15% and have it attenuated to 1.020, I'll be a happy!
Yup! All day Sunday. I figure it can't possibly be worse than a few weeks ago when we did the RIS for the barrel project. With mill problems, missing ingredients, and a few other annoyances it turned into a 14 hour brew dayjeffsmith wrote:Hope you have a lot of time on your hands!
