Shane, how to you clean your mash tun, scoop & shop vac?
Also, I've noticed a number of people brewing in flimsy footwear. All it takes is one accident with hot liquid or dropping a kettle, carboy, etc. Just watch out and take care of yourself if all I'm sayin.
I brew in steel toe boots as I've had a couple of close calls in the past.

I brew in rubber boots and thick socks for the splashing hot liquid reason, but steel toes would come in handy if the keggle ever decided to tipRubberToe wrote:I brew in steel toe boots as I've had a couple of close calls in the past.

Re: Random brewing pics
Looks delish, deano. I've got the same one in secondary right now, though mine is lighter as I left out the Munich, Victory and pale chocolate. Just curious, how long til you hit your FG? Mine's been going 3 weeks now at 17C, 1.020 last night still with some activity in the airlock (I opted for the 2112). I'm hoping to finish around 1.015-ish. Anyone else with thoughts on the 2112?

Used it before, great yeast, but slow.

Re: Random brewing pics
My sampling was rather tasty. I take it you're going for the Anchor Stream? Just 2 Row and crystal? Here's the thing with mine.... First time using liquid yeast for my one gallon batches. I eyeballed approx half the vial directly into the primary, and here after 2 weeks I came out way lower than anticipated at 1.007.

Re: Random brewing pics
Interesting. Yeah, I thought I'd keep it simple first go around; and also hoping I'd be able to drum up an Anchor Steam to do a taste-off. Though in hindsight, I do wish it had a bit more colour... Taste is good so far, I think, at least from my gravity samples. Certainly picking up the citrus, kind of orange peely (if that's an official description) We'll see in another week how it's doing.
While I'm asking questions about this beer, and perhaps this should be in a different thread, I've been making adjustments for my hop levels based on AAUs, correcting the volumes/weights based on the measured AA%. Just wondering if this calculation should only be used for bittering hops and whether that's an appropriate technique for planning aroma levels as well. For example, I planned NB at 60/15/1, and corrected my amounts for all three inputs the same way as I did for the bittering addition.

Nice, shiny, and new...our first brew pot! It arrived from Dave earlier this week, and just getting the pic up now. Waiting to get a bag for it from Becky and Jimmy at Moooovember, and then this baby is ready for her virgin brew!
