Tasted the above-mentioned beer yesterday, and now that it is cold and carbed, all perceptable phenols were gone (at least as far as I could tell).

Mitchell, It was fun. I think there's one again this year if you are up for it. http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... &start=175" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;chalmers wrote:http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... =75&t=6812" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;MitchK wrote:what is an "advent beer"? If there isn't an available spot, they often free up.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
This evening I kegged both of the English (S-04, 1.015, 3.3% ABV) and one of the Belgian (T-58). T-58 is a beast, it finished at 1.002 (4.4% ABV). I'll proabably just call that a Saison Brun. I'm not sure which I'll bring to Hoptoberfest, I'll decide as they carb up.RubberToe wrote:It's been months since I've brewed last but yesterday I made an English Mild and right now I'm boiling what I'm calling a Belgian Mild. Same concept but European and Belgian malts, hops, yeast.

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Oh, thanks for the invite to the advent beer deal but I think I'm going to have to wait until 2016 to get in on it... I'm just in the middle of my first attempt at beer brewing right now and am currently stressing over whether I'll have anything to show the family worth drinking by christmas, let alone something worth showing other people who actually know what they're doing a whole month before that.
I definitely want in on 2016 though.

Ripped out an APA while doing my M.Ed. coursework tonight. Really dialing in my system now: 3 hours start to finish and gravity within 1 point on either side for 3 brews in a row!

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
I need to decide between bottling all of my first beer this weekend or potentially kegging most of it since I managed to pick up some kegs.
If I have time I might start my second beer too (extract german wheat beer)

Yeah - I was assuming chilling time and cleanup weren't part of the 3hr time-frame.Broob wrote:+ chilling time. Still, that's pretty quick.

BIAB --> 5 Gallons --> 15 minutes to strike temp ---> 1 hour mash ---> ~8 minutes to boil --> 1 hour boil ---> 10 min to chill/transfer recirculating plate chiller ---> 15 min Oxy Clean soak and recirc with pump ---> Rinse and dry over night --> storeBroob wrote:How do you get a brew done in 3 hours?jtmwhyte wrote:Ripped out an APA while doing my M.Ed. coursework tonight. Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
Trevor uses electric - 6500W in a 5gal batch will heat quite quickly. As far as chilling, the biggest thing with an immersion chiller is to constantly move the wort around - either stir constantly, constantly move the chiller, or get a pump. When I started stirring my wort, it went from taking 30-40 mins to chill down to around 10-15
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

Re: What's everyone making this weekend?
The electric brewery and small volume recirculation through the plate chiller is very efficient for small batches

Mike and I are Co brewing 2 of our entries this weekend. I'll be hopefully kegging my new IPA on Tuesday and prepping for a 20 gal batch of topaz and cascade DIPA.
