I'm brewing 10 gallons of Pumpkin Ale today. Has been a couple of years since I made it last. Can't wait to drink it!

Jumping on the Robust Porter bandwagon. I have to do a Friday night brew session if I want it ready by Thanksgiving.

Going to brew an IPA with a lb of Falconers Flight that I picked up from Dave last night. This is going to be a slight variation from my previous IPA on this system, drying it out a bit, upping the sulfates a bit more, and adding a few more IBU. I'm thinking I'll do my 60min addition with warrior for all of the bitterness, and use the lb of Falconers for 5min or less additions.

Just weighed out the grains and water additions for my 2nd attempt at an IPA on the new system. It's going to have a 2oz addition of warrior @ 60min for bittering, and a pound of Falconers flight between whirlpool and dry hop.

Brewed a black rye Kolsch today
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Brewed the Rodeo Clown DIPA that Dave posted in the recipe section on Saturnday. Although I had a big boil over and messed up Justin's deck (he keeps razing me about it), it should turn out good. I can't wait for this one to be ready!

Pilsner, flaked rye, midnight wheat, vienna, and munich. The color is 35 SRM so pretty black

Mashed in on this during lunch and finished the boil & cleanup after work. I was worried the whole time that my gravity was low because my refractometer was reading 2 brix low compared to what beersmith said. I decided to increase the boil length to raise the gravity a bit before tossing in my 60 min addition.

I was doing an 8oz whirlpool addition at the end of the boil, and decided using the pump to keep the hops suspended was a good idea..ahh..no! Clogged that bitch up hard. After screwing around with it for a while, I gave up and started cleanup while it was chilling. I decided to take a gravity reading with my saccharometer, and surprise, my refractomer is what was actually off.

Is there any chance that the refractometer could be off because it sat in concentrated starsan for a day? It wasn't submerged, but the part where you put the wort was covered in undiluted starsan for a good 12-24 hours.

Did you try a second reading with the refractometer? I find with mine, even though it says ATC, the most accurate reading is when the sample is at or near pitching temp. I cool the sample in the pipette before testing.

I'm making a fuck up. All excited to make my "Working Man" mild with jasmine flowers. Just checked the mash PH and it was 4.85. Then I realised I had put in my usual 7mls phosphoric acid without checking the recipe and it was supposed to be 2.5mls. I'm now in the process of pouring it down the sink and starting again.

This beer is turning out to be a lot of work for a "working man". On the plus side, the stuff I am pouring down the sink tastes incredible, so I'm feeling positive about this one.

Should have brewed it and used it as another experiment to see how it compared to the same recipe but brewed with the proper amount of phosphoric acid. You'd have only been out a tiny bit of hops and some yeast - not like it was an IPA or IIPA that uses a lot of expensive hops!

I thought hard to try to find a way out, but decided, in the end, that time and effort was the biggest expense here, and I lost the love for it.

Brewing up a Vienna session IPA. Im with Jimmy, no matter how bad I fuck up a beer I see it through till the end so I know what the results are and can refer back to that experience

Mash PH 5.1 this time. That's better. I like to be between 5.1 and 5.3. The longer brew day gave me time to tidy my beer room and arrange my new kegs that came yesterday.
