Thanks guys. I've been just doing the brews in the evening down in my basement on the electric system. No worries.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Brewing a Maris Otter EKG SMaSH, 5 gal batch with 10.25 lb MO and 5oz of EKG at 60, 10 and 5. Using US-04, should be a nice little beer for those who don't like the bigger beers normally on tap.

I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

All ready to brew 88 litres first thing tomorrow. 44 litres of IPA split between S-04 and S-33, and 44 litres of APA with US-05. Both with similar malt and hops, the APA a bit lighter and way less hops. Both are using a 50/50 split of Falconer's Flight and Citra. Grains crushed and pre heated water in the kettles. It's been months since I've brewed and I had a lot of cleaning to do downstairs and other stuff to get ready.

On tap at RubberToe's:
Sometimes on a Sunday Belgian Dubbel, Oaked Old Ale, Ordinary Bitter

This afternoon I am making a Rye Honey IPA with 9lb 2-row, 2.25lb Honey Malt, 1.25lb Rye Malt with a hop schedule of 60 mins of Chinook/Columbus (1oz each), 1.25oz Cascade at 10mins and 1.25oz Cascade at 0mins, using US-05 for yeast. From Beersmith:

IBU: 91.5
ABV: 6.8%
SRM: 9.1

I have not brewed much with Rye or Honey malts, let's see what happens. :mmm: :drunk:

Ripping off Jeff's Strongbad along with a little addition of brown malt. This is 3.5gal batch is larger than normal batch for me so I can test out my shiny new 2.5gal keg. Wish me luck.

Been designing a new Blonde Ale this evening and got it all ready to brew tomorrow afternoon. Tangerine flavours from a huge late Amarillo addition. Trying out the heritage thing on the label to see what kind of response it gets

Is it really still a blonde ale at this point? It sounds like a pale ale to me.

Yes I think so. The BJCP style guide says you are allowed "low to medium hop aroma" in a blonde "which can reflect almost any hop variety". But like you say, this might be regarded as high hop aroma. The other parameters fit. I got away with it with the poolside blonde, but I don't have the score sheets back. This will have double the aroma hops (but same IBUs) of the poolside. I've had the dreaded words, "too hoppy for this style" too many times. :)

I'm brewing a Belgian dark strong ale this weekend. At target ABV of 9.5%, it'll be my strongest beer since 2006.

Brewing 10 gallons of smoked porter now. Figured since I had the gear setup I might as well brew two batches.
