Soaked bottles too long in Oxiclean.. residue solution?

Post by TimG » Mon Nov 25, 2013 8:29 pm

So soaked a batch of bottles in Oxiclean (mainly to remove labels), but left them in too long and they have a chalky residue (more like dried bits of powder when the bottles dry) on the outside and inside. Outside I can scrub off easily enough, but what about the inside? Maybe I can soak them in 'something else' which will dissolve the residue? I tried soaking in clean hot water but didn't really do much of anything.

Anybody else ever run into this?

Tim

Try some stars and then rinse them. It's a good acid, should dissolve it.

In How to Brew, John Palmer recommends CLR when you end up with a chalky haze caused by soaking in percarbonates too long.

Awesome, sounds like CLR might be the ticket! I'll give that a go, sounds easy. Thanks!
