Nice! I need to start hunting down some pork belly in this area to make some bacon. Thinking I may have to source it from a bit further away though likely.

Re: The Official What's Cooking Thread [Food Porn]
Luckily I live really close to free range butcher and get all of my pork bellies there. I haven't purchased store bought crappy bacon since I got my first smoker last year. It's amazing how night and day different home smoked stuff is compared to store bought.jeffsmith wrote:Nice! I need to start hunting down some pork belly in this area to make some bacon. The butcher in riverview where the bowling alley used to be has carried them in the past. Also almost any super store ill have cryovaced ones or will order them in. At least that's been my experience

Likely be a tough call in Amherst. Rinzler's on Mountain Rd in Moncton is the cheapest place I've found for whole bellies, cryovac'd. $2.85/lb last time I bought them about 18 months agojeffsmith wrote:Nice! Sounds like Moncton/Riverview is my best bet. I'll likely try the two places out in Leicester as well, though not sure what they carry.
Thanks fellas.

Jeff.... Try looking up Portage Pork. They are at the Sackville Market every Saturday. They don't normally have bellies with them, but I bet they would bring one in you contacted them.jeffsmith wrote:Sounds like Moncton/Riverview is my best bet. Saw Shane's pic this morning and decided to put together a similar meal tonite: chicken breasts, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, standard fare asparagus, and skillet fried potatoes.

Seafood chowder (the butter and cream make it delicious)

And some left-overs for desert (angel food cake, blackberry yoghurt, local strawberries, whipped cream)

Yum.
I forgot to snap pics of the Pho meal but it was quite the spread. Sprouts, green onion, white onion, cilantro, lime, thin sliced flank, hunk of fresh brisket cooked in the broth then cooled and sliced.
Here's a pic of leftovers, no rice noodles or flank. Instead I used some pork dumplings from the Asian grocery.

Fried egg, aged peppercorn salami, aged cheddar, onions and habanero-mustard-mayo on 8oz of ground beef grown by none other than HPsauce himself...
