In a nutshell, what is the difference between the Walmart Akorn Kamado and the Costco Vision (aside from price, of course)?

I think the size of the grill might be different (square inches), but I could be wrong.

Hahaha! I always have a glass or two of cab sav or merlot when I have steak. To me, it's such an amazing combo! I switched back to home brew after supper was over though. :D

The walmart unit is smaller and.... is built of sheet metal, double walled with insulation. The Vision Kamado is 200 lbs of solid ceramic with lifetime warranty :cheers2:

Wow, I actually had no idea it has a lifetime warranty! Sweet!!! Plus Costco's service for taking something back is outstanding.

Out of curiosity, I was just trying to find relevant data on which is a better thermal insulator - ceramic or trapped air. Couldn't find anything quick, but I am inclined to think ceramic is better.

Btw, where would one pick up one of these? I checked CT and Kent today but they didn't have any.

Would depend largely on the type of ceramic (and how the air is trapped - too large a space and you'll get convective heat transfer). Space shuttle tiles were ceramic.... But so is my coffee mug that burns me on a regular basis.

Ct is where I get mine. If you can wait they usually go on sale for 30% off.

It sure is! I had a second person help me lift it, which IMO is pretty much necessary.

Yeah - I ended up wrestling mine into the car, up onto the deck and into the stand on my own. A second person would have helped!

PSA: Be careful not to hit your lid on anything. I have my table umbrella set up on the inside of the side table because I was doing a pork shoulder in the rain on Sunday. I opened the lid today, the umbrella came over a bit and I hit it on the way down. :(

Nail polish might cover that back over, or maybe sink/tub enamel repair paint might work.

Has anyone seen these at Costco lately? (I didn't see a price in this threat either, but I may have missed it)

CT flyer came today with a C-Series on the back for $700, which renewed my interest. I refuse to buy things at CT that aren't on sale after some shabby treatment in the past.

Not sure where you're located, but Saint John had about 8 or so in their store as of last weekend.

Do either of you happen to know the price? (or anyone else for that matter)

Hopefully going to try and find one of these at Moncton Costco tomorrow. Hoping that I'm not too late in the hint for one.
