Don fron Windsor Jct

Post by De55jay » Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:58 am

Hi All
I use to brew when I was young and enjoy it but gave it up because of dealing with bottles . I always talk about doing it again if I had a keg system . Well I finally got one so here I start . I do enjoy full bodied heavier beer and still enjoy the odd one but my taste has change to lighter beers. I like beers that have a nice beer taste but a smooth clean finish and low carb like Michelob ultra . I know most are going to snub me because of wanting to brew a light beer but i have an issue I am a type 2 diabetic and only suppose to have one beer a day with no saving it for the weekend LOL. So a nice lighter beer 4~3% ( not near beer) so I could have a beer or 2 more ofter and be proud that I made it my self. Sort of getting tired of drink water most of the time . My Brother-in law did a Festabrew dry Lager and Kegged it and I was impressed so I bought one of them to start . If by change there is some one else in the group would has brewed lighter beer, I like to hear how you made out .
And as I have read in this Forum Once you start Kegging its not long before you have 3,4 ,5 or 6 Kegs LOL so it won't be long before I have more Kegs for the keganator with other brews
to share with my friends .

Thanks and Cheers
:cheers2:

Light beers are fine. It's the companies that make them that suck, lol.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

How 'bout a nice Ordinary Bitter or Mild? Lots flavor and only 3-4%

Welcome aboard!
And yes, lots of flavourful low alcohol beers being brewed here. Have you tried the English Brown Ales or Ordinary Bitters? 3% beer with a ton of complexity. Much better than water. :)

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
