"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Yummy, too bad I had only one. I'll sure be drinking more of these in March.

nogne 100. they call it a DIPA, but it is far too dark and malty in my opinion... more of a barleywine. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/nogne-o-10 ... 100/41915/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

But Ratebeer did say it was more of a Barleywine even though they listed it as an DIPA. At least that was what I readCorneliusAlphonse wrote:nogne 100. they call it a DIPA, but it is far too dark and malty in my opinion... more of a barleywine. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/nogne-o-10 ... 100/41915/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i wrote my stuff without reading my own link. terrible. the description there says the brewery calls it a DIPA - mine doesnt have a style listed on the label, but i would definitely call it a barley wine not a DIPA.Tony L wrote:But Ratebeer did say it was more of a Barleywine even though they listed it as an DIPA. I'm drinking my nogne 100 clone from CYBI. Chalmers and I did a blind taste test and couldn't tell the difference from the real deal and the cybi recipe. Great stuff.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:i wrote my stuff without reading my own link. terrible. the description there says the brewery calls it a DIPA - mine doesnt have a style listed on the label, but i would definitely call it a barley wine not a DIPA.Tony L wrote:But Ratebeer did say it was more of a Barleywine even though they listed it as an DIPA. Oh! I forgot to say what I actually think of the stuff - it's great ! The CYBI clone is just from one of the podcast episodes? I'd definitely give it a try!LiverDance wrote: I'm drinking my nogne 100 clone from CYBI. I really like it. It seems to be the dry equivalent of Wyeast 1272 to me. I'll probably snag a bunch more of it if I get the chance.canuck wrote:Looks delicious, Jeff! What are your thoughts on the BRY-97 yeast?

After working up a thirst, I think I'll quench it with a pint of Helles followed by several pints of APA to watch the hockey game with.
Cheers everyone.

Drinking a Sea Level El Rojo Diablo DIPA, Its a very good beer, the carb is much better than the other sea level beers i've had and I'd bet there is a bunch of comet hops in this too. Smells great
