I had that problem at the RB before. Looking around trying to decide if people were Brewnosers.HappyHopper wrote:Do we have like a brewnoser call for those of us that don't recognize eachother... Custom duck call group buy? Just a thought..
What makes a Brewnoser stand out? or are they just regular people?

Also, on Saturday Jan 18th, Stillwell is having a special event: Boxing Rock & Big Spruce Tap Takeover. Full details haven't been announced yet, but it sounds like all 12 taps plus hand pumps will be BR & BS brews. Event-only from 12-5, then open to public. I'll definitely be there.

Isn't that the same day as the Craft Beer event at Halifax Club?mikeorr wrote:Also, on Saturday Jan 18th, Stillwell is having a special event: Boxing Rock & Big Spruce Tap Takeover. *Oops, never mind, that's on the 16th. Was sure that was a weekend event.

No, that's on the 16th. I'm hoping that Tim's winning beer (that will be first made available at the Halifax Club event), will also be made available at Stillwell for this event on the 18th...

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
A quick question. Stillwell seem to be describing this tap takeover as an "event"...so it is $10 for a glass and a drink ticket, is this normal practice for beer bars having tap takeovers? I have been to Volo where a "tap takeover" just happened to be going on which simply meant those were my choices that evening, they didnt charge me to get in. My brother in law is in town that day and I had planned to bring him down to Stillwell for a beer or 2....so if I arrive at 3pm for one beer can I get in? Do I pay $10 for my one pint?

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
It's kind of a goofy set-up AFAIAC. The price is right for a pint and the glass. Seems to be a way to get the glasses moving into people's hands.

I take it to mean you can get a glass if you want to?

From what I understand, the bar is closed 12-5 for this event. To enter, you will need a $10 ticket. In addition to entry, your ticket will get you a commemorative glass and a ticket for a free drink.
If you want to show up at 3, expect to pay $10 for a glass and pint, or more probably, be turned away because they're full.

I like the idea, by the way, and will be attending, along with several other Brewnosers.

It's not a ticket for a free drink. Free liquor isn't allowed. You have paid for it. Why would it cost more at 3?chalmers wrote:From what I understand, the bar is closed 12-5 for this event. I'm open to the whole tap takeover thing, but I do not see any advantage to the consumer in this set-up. For Stillwell though, maybe they are concerned about Saturday attendance and want to market a ticket event to make sure it is worth their while....

I think he means it's more probable that you would be turned away if you show up at 3, as they will likely be full.
I'm all for a $10 fee to know I have a spot (if that is the case), as well as getting a beer & glass out of it.

Ah yes, my grammar bad.
I'd prefer just open the doors and let it be, but to each their own.

I just hope now that they are open on Saturday afternoons, they won't turn that time slot into ticketed events. I liked it fine the way it was.Jimmy wrote:I'm impatient and don't like waiting for a spot to open

Re: Official Stillwell Thread
I'm sure it will be open as normal most of the times. When I was chatting with them about this event the other week, they wanted to be able to have it as an event for the beer geeks/connoisseurs to really be able to enjoy. The place isn't huge and it gets pretty busy, so by having it as a ticketed event it lets us have a small window during the day to enjoy. I like the idea, and am looking forward to attending. That being said, I doubt it will be a regular thing - I fully expect to see most Saturdays as regular open hours.
