Re: Another Brew-On-Premise Article
I couldn't find yesterday's interview with the NSLC on Information Morning's site (they only have highlights for re-listening). Any info?
And if anyone's feeling up for recording today's NSLC section, I'd like to listen.
Anyone interested in writing this up for a blog post?

Thanks will do. Just to confirm, someone from the NSLC was on Information Morning Tuesday defending the legal action they're taking?GAM wrote:You can request it from the show with an e-mail.

Re: Another Brew-On-Premise Article
I was in one of the stores being drug to court at lunch today, he tells me that the NSLC is also threatening to sue for punitive damages on lost income over the BOP sales. At the same time I work with someone who is a very active member of the NDP and tells me they're trying to get in damage control mode because they weren't expecting this.
Hard to believe of a the things the NDP government had done, giving the NSLC power to police was the one that might be their undoing in the next election.

How does that work if we buy beer right from the brewery? Is the NSLC still involved then?Dirt Chicken wrote:If they try and sue, I and many other nova scotians will be boycotting NSLC indefinitelyweir wrote:I was in one of the stores being drug to court at lunch today, he tells me that the NSLC is also threatening to sue for punitive damages on lost income over the BOP sales. I can do without buying my whisky there, but I'd hate to see Propeller and Garrison suffer for the NSLC's nonsense.

I would venture a guess that the NSLC is involved in some way with any sale/purchase of alcohol in the province, in some form.amartin wrote:How does that work if we buy beer right from the brewery? Is the NSLC still involved then?

the guy on my soccer team brian keefe was telling me his dad who is co-owner of granite brewery. they used to have to sell/ship the beer to NSLC before it could be shipped from their granite brewery location on barrington to the henry house (which is also on barrington).

Re: Another Brew-On-Premise Article
sounds right. its all about profit loss to NSLC, has nothing to do with the law.mr x wrote:My god, are the people in power truly that dumb?weir wrote:I was in one of the stores being drug to court at lunch today, he tells me that the NSLC is also threatening to sue for punitive damages on lost income over the BOP sales. Re: Another Brew-On-Premise Article
I think we're all on the same page about the NSLC's position on this, but I expect the "dumb" part refers to the fact that the NDP never apparently even considered the idea that there might be a backlash.sleepyjamie wrote:sounds right. its all about profit loss to NSLC, has nothing to do with the law.mr x wrote:My god, are the people in power truly that dumb?
When the law enabling NSLC to seek an injunction was introduced, I had a long argument with Robert over the fact that I saw - and still see - it as accomplishing nothing. NSLC, as any person or corporate entity, has always had the right to seek an injunction when somebody is breaking a law. But the backlash here is because they've been given the power to fasttrack that, and the public is seeing it as very heavy-handed, and also more clearly seeing the conflict of interest in having the state liquor monopoly being the liquor regulator. So, in the long run, I might even see this law as a Good Thing.

Re: Another Brew-On-Premise Article
Maybe this finally is what it takes to destroy NSLC and start over. On top of their blinding ignorance regarding public backlash, people are pretty much done with being treated like morons. The excuses from the NSLC and the NDP for enacting and enforcing this law are horrid and insulting. Sober No More!!!!! hahahahahahahaa
