Mill Street Vanilla Porter... Not what I expected in a not good way
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

I recently bought two cans of it and dumped both of them out. WAY TOO fucking sweet with no malt backbone to speak of.

Yeah was shit when I had it too. I bought it hoping it was something that resembled HRBs.

And there's so much potential in that combination... I guess I'll have to make a better one

Is it bad that I kinda liked this? It certainly wasn't the Porter I thought it'd be but I appreciated the nitrogenous head!

I think we have a different idea behind what a porter should be. I found it thin, lifeless and flavor wasn't what it should be IMO.

Mine had no head, as if the nitro was a dud. Thin, lifeless, no head, low carb, low flavour.

Drinking at a brewpub/homebrew shop in Tenerife Norte. Heavily German influenced.

I’m really enjoying my latest batch of “Three.” It’s the one where the Conan was slow to start and I ended up throwing in some 05. It seems to have a lingering, lacing head that persists to the very end, and I don’t know why. It’s supposed to be an IPA but seems to be stuck as an APA. It won gold in the states as an APA. It’s dry hopped and all. I think I’ll add some centennial (along with the Amarillo, Simcoe and Galaxy) and much as I hate it, some crystal, along with the MO, Pilsner and Munich, to try to make it an American IPA.

Just not enough bittering hops? or you are getting a sweetness from the hops?

Drinking an aged Brathair Brewing Santas chocolate stout. I believe this has been in my fridge for a year. Tastes great, nice stout with subtle chocolate flavors

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
