Damaged keg

Post by akr71 » Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:32 pm

I haven't used this keg since before I moved. Is there any hope in fixing it or is it just scrap metal?

Punctured - it leaks without any pressure on it.

Could probably be fixed in theory - but I wouldn't bother since its a pressure vessel and it would cost more to fix than replace.

Silver solder (will still be a pain in the ass) or jbweld if you don't mind drinking a little toxins. :)

Inside surface damaged so could harbour infection and make adequate sanitation difficult/impossible...same as a faulty keg weld.

I knew all this. Just was hoping there was a solution I wasn't aware of :wahh:

I might be able to fix it. Don't throw it out. If we can get it down to me I will give it a hook.

I could definitely silver solder it. I used to have a Keith's keg that had a four inch rip in it that was welded, so that's a possibility too.

Very good to hear. It may take a while Jeff, but it will go back into the corner of the shed until I figure out the logistics of getting it down to the valley.
