Picaroons Porter - Mill St Coffee Porter or Propeller

Post by Earl » Fri Sep 30, 2011 8:29 pm

I just cracked a Picaroons Porter - Man's Best Friend and it reminded me of of the Mill Street Coffee Porter that I used to enjoy.

Has anyone else had both of these to comment on whether my recall of the Coffee Porter is correct. It has been quite some time. I think I prefer Propeller Porter to Man's Best Friend but am longing for a Coffee Porter to be able to make a call amoung the three.

Any Porter fans out there with views or other recommendations.

I personally find Man's Best Friend to be more similar to a traditional Porter than a Coffee Porter. That being said, I haven't had one in a couple of years, so the recipe more than likely changed a bit since then.

I've had all three, but the only one I've had recently is the Mill St (which is available in Bedford)

I would tend to agree with Jeff though (if my memory serves me correctly) that the Mill St had much more coffee flavor than the picaroons or the propeller.

Ditto. I had the Mill St last night. I'm a regular drinker of Propeller's porter and have had Picaroon's a few times as well. Porter is so good, I think it will be one of my next brews.

Try it with some smoked malt (rauch)...
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

I have a recommendation..... Get on The Schwarz at the H&T. It's black and tasty! :D
