Anvil Brewing Equipment - New From Blichmann

Post by GillettBreweryCnslt » Thu Nov 19, 2015 4:57 pm

Hi Everyone!

Today, Blichmann Engineering launched a new brand and a new line of equipment called Anvil Brewing Products. This line is a more affordable line that shares the same amazing craftsmanship we've come to expect. The tagline is that Anvil Brewing Equipment is durable, reliable and capable of producing precisely what you need, with a simple, straightforward design that doesn’t sacrifice expectations of quality.

I am one of only 2 retailers in Canada to carry it at the moment. I am running a pre-buy right now for delivery the week of December 7th. I will be stocking these products regularly after the holidays, but don't miss out on this initial shipment.

Dave, I see they have moved to a tri-clad base. I think that's important if you are using a gas flame to avoid reductone production/scorching. With the Boilermakers they gave a whole spiel about how a tri-clad bottom was unnecessary and how they would rather spend the money on quality elsewhere. Also are these pots induction ready? the boilermakers were not. I think if you are making a pot of top quality and top price, it should be. But not many need that ...all the same.

Mark,

Yes, these kettles are induction ready. The reason that they went back to tri-clad bottoms was mainly due to customer response/requests. As more brewers are looking into induction heating, the demand has increased beyond what is was when the Blichmann line was originally launched. I believe they are getting their foot in the door in that particular market as more companies are offering induction ready kettles and more individuals are seeking them.

Thanks

These look amazing. I'm still not ready for an upgrade, but it's nice to see quality stuff a bit cheaper than some of the Blichmann stuff.

I don't own one, but I was looking into induction, and seems from other people's experiences that the Avantco 3500 can boil a 15 gallon pot of wort in a pinch. Probably not ideal, but for the price of the unit (<$200 US), it's a attractive option.

See here: http://www.webstaurantstore.com/avantco ... 2A240.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here for a video of 13 gallons of wort boiling on one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq91-UdJCac" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (And the pot isn't insulated, either.)

As an aside, I am surprised that they didn't go with a three piece ball valve on the pots. It wouldn't have added a lot to the total cost of the pot, but it would have made the set up look higher class, as well as playing into (with the solid bolts, etc.) their 'tough' anvil image. Might be worth passing on as distributor feedback, Dave, if any other people agree.
