Advent #8

Post by HPhunter » Mon Dec 08, 2014 2:06 am

I'd like to say I tried this beer and it tastes like ASS! Its Hoppy, very lite malt profile, clean mouthfeel. It's O.K. good thing the guy who made it is brewing the newer updated version today!
Recipe Goes something like this
Lite Malty Malts
Very little Crystals

Hops
Generously hopped at flame out
Dry Hopped

Water
Treated with stuff
O.G.
15ish Plato
F.G.
2.5ish Plato

Roughly 8kgs of hops in a 5bbl batch!

Bottles may be slightly undercarbed as I was Busy brewing. I just shot from the hip with the beer gun. Lucky you cats it was attached to the IPA brite tank at the time.

I had a glass of this when I came to pick it up for the advent. I liked it. I thought it tasted a bit like Muskoka Detour, must have similar hops. I'm saving this bottle for Christmas because I've already tried it. I also have a bottle of "Lunch IPA" squirrelled away, and brewing some more "Three" today.

If it was on at Stillwells next time I'm there, I'd get this one.

Thanks Jeff.

Great nose and flavor, bitterness lingers a bit but doesn't bother me. Really like the mouthfeel and texture of this beer.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Jeff, I've said it before, this is my favorite hoppy beer that you've brewed.

Hoppy aroma...balanced with a great malt back...the lingering bitterness reveals a fruity piney flavor...nice head that when falls laces the glass as it drops...mouth feel is perfect imo for an ipa.

They dont call u badass...I mean bad apple for nuttin.

Hmm, mine isn't nearly as clear as your pics... Still damn tasty though. And yes, I may have chosen the glass on purpose lol

Lovely and hoppy. Lots of citrus hop flavours and I am guessing there is some CTZ in there too. Nice malt flavours and body to support the hops.

Just want to say how nice this beer was. The hop aroma and flavour are amazing. One of the best IPAs I've ever had.

I have been sick for a bit and working on catching up.

This reminded me of an IPA that I made a while back. Very clear, well carbed, and super tasty.

I have been lazy for a bit and am working on catching up.

For the first little bit I wanted to say that I like a little more malt flavor in an IPA, but by the end of it I just wanted another one of these. Or three.
