ANBL discontinuing Orval

Post by berley » Thu Oct 23, 2014 4:12 pm

I have it from a reliable source that ANBL is looking to discontinue Orval. No reason to panic yet; the website says they still have over 1000 bottles in the warehouse... but still, I've been worrying about this for awhile!

If you'd like to complain, please do so! Email info@anbl.com.

Yeah, this stinks. Looks like Abbot Ale and Duchy Original (some of the last remaining bitters at ANBL), and Affligem Blond are also on clearance :(

I'm quite fond of the Affligem Blond, and it's already all but gone. Would have bought some had I known....

I think Fullers London Pride is the only English Bitter left? Old Speckled Hen and Ruddles County both disappeared a year or two ago. Sad to see the import section made up nearly entirely of pale lagers (and I have a soft spot for them, even).

Maybe the euro imports aren't selling so well with the booming local craft beer boom?
