Mine is due for a cleaning out as well, and will inspect it when I do. Good to know that it will be replaced without any issues if it ever splits in two!

Ordered a Kamado Joe heat deflector last week and it arrived today. Seems to fit the firebox pretty well on the Vision. Going to be doing pizza tonite, ribs tomorrow and likely a pork shoulder on Sunday, so it'll get a good test drive this weekend.

Jeff, how much did you end up paying for you KJ heat deflector online? I purchased mine locally, and IIRC, it was $80 with tax.

Yup, $80 isn't too bad, but if we can do a bit better online I'm game for that too. Going to have to improvise for a cook tonight (beef ribs and chicken legs) to get that indirect heat going.

Got mine at bbqs.com (out of Ontario) for 54.99 plus tax and shipping. With a bag of Pecan chunks, it came out to around $90. Shipping would have been the same with or without the wood, so I tossed that in for something a bit different.

Edit: Here's the direct link: http://www.bbqs.com/classic-heat-deflector-p-1231.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Jeff, didn't know the KJ one worked so well. I see there is a dealer in town, going to give him a shot before I order online (as long as the price is reasonable).

Cheers,

Tim

kamadoguru.com is your friend. :lol: I saw that a lot of the guys over there were using them. I had been thinking about picking up the Ceramic Grill Store adjustable spider rig, but really couldn't justify $165+ for all of that. I just wanted a stone that I didn't have to give up my bottom cooking rack for.

I'm leaning the same way now - $90 all in vs $185 (shipping is still $20 even to Boston) for the spider rig - with the savings, I can replace my keggle with a brew pot.

Not sure about Halifax but Calgary has them listed for $399

There are a bunch left here. I'd call the stores to see if any are left. If they are in sure Costco has the same prices across Canada.

Nah, I've seen threads on RFD on this one where the prices are cheaper out west. Not sure why.
