Sorry to hear. How was it stored? It's getting up there in age. Having said that, I would expect a big beer like that to age gracefully. I still have a couple of bottles. Maybe it's time to open one with the Barrel version.GAM wrote:Blake and I had a triskaidekaphobia from Big Spruce. Gusher, with a fusel/medicine taste. Not good for such an expensive beer.

That one was in my beer fridge since I got it home. I was thinking that a year would be fine with 11*.
George bought one too and it is in my beer cupboard at room temp. I should refrigerate asap.

I agree with you 100%, it should have been fine @ fridge temp. Something still fermenting in there? Now you've got me intrigued...GAM wrote:That one was in my beer fridge since I got it home. I was thinking that a year would be fine with 11*.

Me too. I hope for BR & BS that it was a one off fluke.
I would think others would have bottles stashed too.

Looks like I'll be enjoying a bit of Big Spruce and Breton for a couple nights. Great haul from an extended weekend visit.

Had the Ol'Mick's Tart & Juicy Grapefruit Ale from Breton and the Wigged Out by Big Spruce over the weekend. Both very nicely done. Tried to take more Ol'Mick home, but it was sold out on Monday.Keith wrote:Anything new on tap at either brewery?

Same, and mixing it up with fruit is a great option too.jtmwhyte wrote:Berliner Weisse here... can't imagine a summer where I don't make this stuff in the future

I'm drinking Bad Apple's Box Cutter IPA, I was in the valley last weekend so I had to stop for a growler fill. Damn that's a good beer!

Re: What's everyone drinking?
At a craft beer and sake bar in tokyo, back home tomorrow. Called "Towa - The World's End", they've got English for the beer names and style in the menu, so it's very approachable. 14 taps and 2 hand pumps, all from Japanese craft breweries. First time I've been impressed with selection since coming here.
Had a really good Berliner weisse (lemon drop, quite acidic, grainy lacto flavour - unfortunately the tiny keg [edit: their kegs are almost all 10L, they have a single 15 or 20L today] kicked and I only got a half pour), a very meh farmhouse (tonnes of bubblegum), and a decent porter and English pale ale.
It's right under the train tracks so you get the rumble of them going over every couple minutes. Definitely one to check out if you're in tokyo.

Subtle spice and a nice malt finish. I think I like it.

Graceland Too White IPA - Propeller and Flying Monkeys collab. Anyone know what yeast they used in this? Really enjoyed it.
