Ratio. Drop the 1. off the og to get a whole number. 1.063=63...

I made adjustments to my hop additions and Dark LME. From what I can see this now falls into the BIPA ranges. Should definately produce an interesting brew. :cheers2:

I appreaciate everyone's input on this.

This is one hell of a beer, really hard to judge by pulling a sample while racking it off, I'm going to bring a sample of this to the next meeting. Fingers crossed for great things! BTW closest thing I can compare the smell to would be road tar. :headbang:

This is a strong fucking beer. It's suprisingly a semi easy drinker after your tastebud takes the initial kick in the ass.

Keith -- noticed you added *Do not brew again* to the title on here. What went wrong, or what didn't you like?

I guess I would have been more helpful if I had read the thread more closely. Sorry about that.

Might be blendable.

Probably obvious now but using LME would have been a better way to go. When I was extract brewing I always used LME as the base and used steeping grains or PM to get the right color/flavour.

This is an epic failure on all of us. Somebody should have picked up on that malt bill. 0_o

It happens. I expect a bad batch every now and then when brewing my own recipes. I told the boys that's the beer they have to finish if they want anymore.

I've made a few bad beers. Only one I couldn't drink. I tried to drink it but my taste buds threatened to stop liking beer until I flushed it. Learned way more from the failures than the successes.

:cheers2: I've learned that much dark LME will make you want to shoot yourself in the face, however on a side note I'm letting it age and hoping this will taste better in a month. I am not too sure, but time will tell.

Ha here's hoping. I hung on to mine for about 6 months hoping it would mellow. It got worse over time and then the tops started blowing off. What a goddamn mess.

I made some like that once. Was trying to invent a DME Porter. It didn't help when I tried to convince myself that porters tasted like that. The beef and porter stew I made with it was ok. Eventually it was dumped. Got worse with age too.

Well since I've taken a forced break from brewing. The black ipa has made its way back on tap. It isn't cold yet. So I'll give it a go tomorrow night. It has been sitting in the corner for nearly 6 months. Going to be interesting to say the least.

With that being said, the Belma DIPA is force carbing at 40 psi for 20 hrs.
