Post by Joeg » Sat Nov 09, 2013 12:32 pm

Just getting into homebrewing with malt extract kits from the local HBS, basic equipment and pretty much just follow the steps. But that's for now....

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Hello, You could try buying some hops and throwing them in just before you start cooling the beer. Perhaps 4oz of an aroma hop. :mmm: (not that I'm trying to get you hooked or anything, and it's all nonsense that hops are closely related to cannabis  )

Welcome.

Sorry Joseph, I posted something in your thread that was supposed to be in another thread :( didn't make any sense here at all. It's all the hops :)

Welcome to the forum, and nice to see another local homebrewer! We have a local club, The Fundy Area Brewers, that meet up once a month, have group buys, etc. We're always looking for more homebrewers!

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Like Shane mentioned, we have a good little local club, with members that brew everything from can and kilo kits up to commercial (nanobrewery) batches. We will probably have our November meeting soon, so get in touch and we can add you to our email list.

Cheers,
Jon
